A biking image I captured while out riding the other day. The mountain looked to be on fire thanks to the wind, the clouds and the late afternoon light.

Been struggling a bit with my landscape photography lately. I would like to be able to create more interesting images. Not just easily digestible photos that grabs me and are pretty to look at for a couple of seconds. Right now, I don't know exactly what that entails, but I'll continue trying and exploring. Probably for a very long time.

Been doing some more work with my holga camera. Here's one from the italian coast, close to the Cinque Terre area. As usual it's shot on Tri-X and developed in Rodinal.
I would like to share it with the cool project #minimalmonday run by +Olivier Du Tré as well.

Just uploaded some of my Holgashots on my website. Shot on Tri-X and developed in Rodinal. Have a look if you're interested. It's a bit of a mix of everything :)

Lapland on a sunny day. The weather generally goes from worse to worst fast. And then it gets stuck right around unbearable for as long as your camping trip lasts.

Scouting photo locations together with my brother +Oskar Lindby.
It's a busy photo for sure, but at the same time quite simple and uniform. Go figure :)

A reminder that mountain biking is not all about speed and rad trails.
It's also about being harassed by sheep while trying to find a decent restaurant.

I haven't been motivated when it comes to editing for a while. Here's an image I made this summer while hiking in Lapland, Sweden.
Also, feel free to check out my web site: www.rikardlindby.com. I recently recoded a lot of it to make it look nicer on pads and phones.

Have started to shoot some medium format film with my Holga. Here is a rather minimal shot from the first roll. (Tri-X, developed in Rodinal, Semi-Stand 1 hour)
I like the "slowness" of shooting film, and developing it myself. It forces me to think hard before I actually press the shutter. I don't think I will give up digital completely. This is more like a complement.

I made this one while hiking in Peru. During the hike we encountered sunshine, rain, hail as well as snow. Variation is always good, right :)

Another one from Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia. There were hundreds of flamingoes in and around the lake. But it was this lonely bird that caught my eye.

Image from Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia. Had to wait quite a while until i liked the position of the clouds in relation to the mountain. Lately I feel I'm spending more and more time waiting than actually photographing :)

Shot some mountain biking in the area of Bariloche, Argentina. This particular image was made while decending "Cerro Otto". The light was moody. Switching between fantastic and dull. Timing was of the essence.

Last mountain biking shot for tonight. This one from Engelberg, Switzerland. Me and my buddy +Oskar Enander biking on a nice flowy trail. I hiked up on a rather sketchy ledge and positoned the camera on a tripod. I had taped the remote to my handlebar and just fired away :)

Another mountain biking photo. This one was shot at the same trail as the last one. Just before the sunset. I like the soft light and the pose of the rider blasting down the trail.

I'll share one more mountain biking photo. This one is from Haldigrat in central Switzerland. The trail runs over a ridge and it's pretty steep on the sides. Having a head lamp is definitely necessary when biking after sunset.
Down in the valley the fog lay dense but up on the ridge we had clear skies.

Last couple of weeks I've been doing a lot of mountain bike photography. Here's a shot I made at the same time as the photo from the last post was being exposed. It's a good idea to bring two cameras when doing star trails :) This one was made on the trail on the left side of the lake, and this as well as the last one, contains the Matterhorn and stars.

Lately I've been traveling a lot. Last stop was Madagascar which was a pretty cool and interesting destination. Have a ton of images of lemurs and other funny animals. Managed to do some landscapes as well, but
I haven't had time to process them yet though.
Here is a shot from another place. Iceland and more specifically Myvatn. It's Fire sky! The colors were crazy. Added a slight s-curve in the processing. Thats all.

Last Friday I spent a cold, loveless night up by the Stellisee. The views up there are pretty nice though.
By the way, that tiny mountain in the middle is the Matterhorn.

Just came back from a night of shooting up by the Lutersee, in the area of Engelberg, Switzerland. Me and my buddy +Georg Infanger hiked up with our bikes and camera gear, hoping for clear skies and calm weather. But the fog was relentless and didn't give up it's nasty grip until early burly morning. Still, we had some great fun, trying to shoot in the fog and testing different strobe setups. When the morning came we got up early and managed to squeeze off a couple of frames, before we headed down to engelberg on our bikes.
Here are two shots of mount Titlis and the Lutersee. One taken before sunrise and the other one just after.

The story behind this shot is kinda interesting (I think): We spent two days on the slopes around Cotopaxi, but never once saw the peak, it being shrouded in cloud the entire time. By the end of the two days, we'd given up, and despite getting a bunch of other shots, felt dejected at not getting "the" one we were looking for, so we packed the bikes into the van and started to drive away. Just minutes later we looked back for one last farewell to what could've been, only to see the clouds parting and the unto-now-ellusive view of the perfect peak start to form.
The next 5 minutes of panicked scrambling led to this shot.

Here is another photo I made while hiking in Lapland, Sweden. It features the lake Vassaloamijavri. The landscape in this area is quite different from the one around Tarfala, where the other last two images are from.

Lately I have spent some time hiking up in the northern parts of Sweden. Lapland. The landscape in this part of the world differs quite a bit from what you encounter in the alps. The mountains are lower, but the environment is generally more untouched by man and in the summertime the good light lasts a lot longer. In addition you are allowed to set up camp just about anywhere and you encounter less people on the trails. This photo shows the Lake Tarfala on an overcast and windy day. I had hoped for calm weather so that I could capture some reflections in the water, but the gods had other plans, as they often have. When the wind didn't make it hard/impossible to shoot they decided to throw in some rain and hail just to make life slightly more interesting. Anyway, bad weather usually makes more interesting photos I think.

Another Ibex. Shot the evening before the last one in the same general area, Les Lacs Chessery. I feel very fortunate to have been able to observe these magnificent animals from "wide angle distance".
I was shooting the landscape when the Ibex wandered in to the scene.

I have spent the last couple of days in Chamonix with my brother. We hiked the area of Lac Blanc and Les Lacs Chessery and camped up there for two nights. It was good fun even if the wind was a bit on the strong side.
Here is a shot I took of an Alpine Ibex one early morning. Afterwards I realized that I had forgot to change the ISO back from 3200. Still, I like the photo a lot.
