Homeward Bound

                   Another snap from my visit to a very windy Norfolk coast last weekend.

One Careful Owner !!!

                      Just dug this one up from a very dusty old external hard drive.Snapped it seven years ago now.My records show it as my first attempt at an HDR image....☺

                      I am currently suffering from some sort of "bug" that I cannot shake off.Fingers crossed,now that the better weather has arrived,the sunshine will help me shake it off.Until then my visits will be somewhat restricted.☺

Two Wrecks !!!

Yours truly inspecting the wreck of the Sheraton on Hunstanton beach today.What isn't obvious from this snap is the blisteringly cold wind ( -4c with wind chill today ) ,and the snow that was falling at the time.Had a great time beachcombing after inspecting this wreck.
Amazing to think I was wearing a T-shirt this time last year !!! ☺

The Blusher

A shot from last season's mushroom hunt.Seventeen hand focused images,stacked in Photoshop CS5. I do use a computer to control focusing at times,but as this was shot on a very rainy day,and as my netbook is not waterproof,I left it at home.
I am told that Amanita rubescens ( and I could be wrong with the I.D. ) is poisonous raw,but edible when cooked.Probably best to leave it alone then !!! ☺

Following on from yesterday's post,this is another shot from 2006.Again,it was shot with a Fuji S3 Pro and natural light.This time with a couple of reflectors just to lift the shadows,under the caps,a little.There's a great big wooden shed standing where these were growing now :(

One of my very first fungi images shot way back in 2006.Equipment used was a Fuji S3 Pro,Tamron 90mm ( non digital version ),my trusty homemade beanbag and the shutter was tripped with a cable release ( anybody remember those ? ).No flash.No reflectors.Just good old natural light.
I'd just like to thank everyone who sent me well wishes this time last week and say that I am much better now,thank you.☺

I know this is no great shakes as an image,but I was just wondering if anyone knows what that glowing thing in the sky is.I seem to have some vague recollection of seeing something like this before but the name of this glowing orb escapes me !!! ☺

P.S. Hopefully this is the last time I see any lens flare for a while !!! ☺

The Monster,The Bug and The Tightrope Walker.

I've had a few converstaions recently,with people bemoaning the fact they don't have a bag full of lenses and flashguns,and in many cases a DSLR.Seems they think they can't take mushroom shots without such exotic equipment.Well,I think this proves you can.I shot this in the pouring rain with a compact camera and a couple of home made reflectors.Probably one of my most interesting fungi shots and certainly a favourite of mine ☺

Shot this on a very bright day,with the subject in heavy shade.Had to nuke it with two flash guns to try and get it,and the background exposed satisfactorily.

I spend most of Autumn every year walking the woods,looking for photogenic mushrooms,with a heavy pack on my back stuffed full of the gear I think I need to take the shot.But just occasionally,and particularly when visiting new patches of woodland,I like to travel light.Of course I always find something that really needs the services of a tripod,a couple of flash guns,probably the odd reflector and not forgetting the camera remote,such as this group growing on a rotting log.But with a bit of experimenting I managed to snap these,hand held with the flip-up on camera flash.Not a stunning image,but acceptable I think ☺

The Car At Bodie.( NOT MY IMAGE !!! )

You know what it's like.You haven't been out for ages.You're fed up of looking at your own images and you've got nothing new to work on.Throw in a dream of far off places,such as Bodie,and the day starts to feel grim.

Cue,centre stage,the World famous +RC Concepcion and his marvelous blog.I spotted this post; www.aboutrc.com/2013/01/30/hdr-file-to-play-with-the-car-at-bodie/ over there and thought I would have a play and give it the vintage treatment.

Well,I didn't get to visit Bodie,but part of Bodie came to visit me.

Maybe life isn't so grim after all.☺

So who are these folks? And why are they photographers to follow?

First of all.. this circle contains a bunch of my closest friends on G+. The folks that I spend the most time "with" on here.  There are a bunch of great photographers and just as importantly "good people" here.

1) Active : They have posted within the last month. With the holidays a lot of folks have slowed down but these folks are still there. Yes, I visited each stream.

2) Original These photographers are sharing mostly  "THEIR OWN WORK" and their stream is mostly photography.
 
3) Interactive : I try to find folks who are interactive and comment on their own posts and the posts of others.
