Just kind of a crazy snap from the work day, before a team photo in a conference room. And that really is a glass topped table.

I've just posted a new article on my blog, "But that's just Photoshop", on the relationship between pre-visualisation and post-production. And for anyone who's interested, there's a processing challenge at the end of the article.

When a press event is not a press event
The ubiquity of digital cameras, phone cameras, and probably the worst, tablet cameras, gives every people the access of photographing everything around them and everything that happens around them.
I grew up in a time when taking photographs of people or of events is a luxury that not all enjoy. Film cameras are expensive. Developing films are expensive. More so printing them. Every click of the camera costs the photographer. So one must really think if that very instant is worthy of that cost. If that moment is important.
I happen to experience digital photography in 2003 with a 3-megapixel digital slr. Yes you read it right, a three-megapixel camera. My digital film then was a 128mb compact flash drive. It was the most wonderful experience. I no longer have to think of the cost of each photo. I can click whenever I want and... more »

Solution that is working so far. I go to the More column, scroll down to the bottom and go to the one column option... then I enlarge the image on my computer. Looks more like what we used to have.

Observation. At home I have a 27 inch mac. The three column really works. But at work, on a much smaller monitor, I go just single column. (And in that climate I wish the images were bigger.)

Can somebody tell me, when using the tree column approach, why some pictures are big. Who or what decides that certain pictures show up big. Can we make our pictures that we post show up big?

2013-05-15 21:20:05 (3 comments, 0 reshares, 6 +1s)
Yea yea Yea..... I found out how to single column. Now I am a happy camper. Go to More, scroll to bottom. Viola. Back to something my brain can handle.

Whoa. Shock to my system. New Layout. But guys you goofed. You failed to ask my opinion before you changed everything all up! First impression. Yes to everything EXCEPT the Double columns. Too much information all at once. I want Less Less Less on the page at any one time. I have pretty much stopped using Facebook for this very same reason. But the colors, the lifted box, the symbols... All work very well. So consider me split. All I wanna know is how do I make all my posts go big like some I see. I like the big fill the space pictures.

Mastodon in the primitive Arkansas dawn.
Now that the reveals for the Landscape division of the +Chrysta Rae's Photography Scavenger Hunt are underway I can share this with a larger world. This image ties with one other (yet to be revealed) that I was most happy about from the hunt. Landscape theme.
Taken Easter Morning near Bigalow Arkansas.
Thanks +Kimberly Tweed for spotting the Mastodon.

I will be curious to see if this works, in that I have established convictions (I am a Christian) and do not believe that various religions can be reconciled with each other... However, I believe that we all owe each other a debt of gratitude, and that I have many things to learn from others.

Not quite Mother's Day.... More like Grandma day. This particular concept album (Songs of the Heart) is build around a road trip taken along route 66 by the songwriter's grandparents when he was a kid. But the despite the cover, the music is pure 90s bubble-grunge.
Band: Daniel Amos, in one of there many period incarnations.

Sho Baraka
xth (10th)
Me commenting on rap, doesn't make much sense.... but this is a recent find that has made me wholly altered my sense of what rap can be.
This particular album blends gospel (themes) rap and all kinds of sonic landscapes from classical, jazz, and tribal music. My sense is that this really is good music, whether you resonate with the themes or not.
As is, this album has created small controversy in the christian music arena, primarily because the guy gets a little too "street." (While utterly tame by mainstream rap standards, there are different boundaries for gospel, and some folks think Sho Baraka crosses them.)

Shai Linne
False Teachers
Controversial Gospel rap. For some folks the very idea of Gospel themed rap is kind of incongruous. But this is kind of in a category by itself...A black student of theology who uses rap to slam a number of TV evangelists....
False Teachers by Shai Linne NEW SONG + Lyrics - Fal$e Teacher$!
The song False Teachers is stirring a lot of "in-house" debate (in the church community) about just how and who should be targeted for criticism.
Beyond that, some people say this just isn't very good rap. I dunno know.
I seldom if ever listen to rap but now... find myself listening to a whole bunch.

BIG PRINT GIVEAWAY VOL II - Square edition
This month last year i passed the 10,000 followers mark and gave away 10 limited edition prints of my work (29 by the time I managed to stop my girls pulling names out of a hat) This year I'm amazed to have passed the 20k mark - I will give away 20 LE prints to whoever plusses, comments, shares, grunts… a pic of their choice in the album.
The picture selection is my most viewed images this past 12 months.
Again my daughters will use their special random algorithm (Involving pieces of paper and a hat :) to decide the winners and pick out the twenty people when i'm back from Iceland in the next few weeks
The colour prints will be printed on Kodak Metallic and the black and white on Hahnemuhle Matte Fine art paper.
Thanks ag... more »
