James Day14,122You're invited to participate in a new G+ #art event called Google First Friday ~  #GoogleFirstFriday .  As with most new things Google First Friday will have humble beginnings. Given time though it will grow to be a great event for artists and art enthusiasts alike, to share the newest works being added to the art world each day. This is an event by and for artists. There's no need to starve or struggle if we all come together in support of each other. Hopefully over time that's what this event will become, a place not only to share your work but to connect with other creatives and to find patrons who love your art.  If you have questions, please check out the monthly art event #TwitterFirstFriday  which I've been curating since early 2014 https://twitter.com/hashtag/TwitterFirstFriday?src=hash. Over the past year it's turned into a sizable art event on Twitter. Please set your calendar for Friday June 5th which will be the first of many  #GoogleFirstFriday  art events to come! Thank you for reading and sharing, James DayGOOGLE FIRST FRIDAY2015-07-03 22:00:00205

Tim Utzig15,425Thought it might be fun to post a pic of your country, city or state this week, now through Wednesday - as many or as few as you'd like. Just thought it would be a fun way to share a little bit about your country, experiences and some of your favorite destinations and maybe meet a new person. Just take a pic and post it here. Open to invite friends as well.  #YourFavoritePlace  Your Favorite Place2012-11-17 18:00:00191

“Sweep the brush to form the curve—cup the color—watch it swerve. When you’re feeling really low—make it vivid—let it glow. Pull yourself through every stroke—abstract urgings will provoke. Dare to stream this inner need—on the canvas—the opening seed. In your vision see it grow—all the artist seeks to know. Images flourish in the swell—revel in the pigment’s tale.” ~ Gari Hatch

“A Pigment of the Imagination”

Indigo hangs
on
the wind—

while
scarlet reaches
halfway in.

The blue stump
and
the old root—

they thrive
beyond
all that’s moot.

There is a wave
where
color moves—

follow
the plane,
what behooves?

A pigment
of
the imagination—

it braves
all
trepidation.

Ancient grace rides the spine—graze the scales of the old divine. Quiet move to the sculptor’s tool—a presence in the color pool.” ~ Gari Hatch / 05-29-2015

“The Upward Lift”

Against sienna—
shapes
can grow,

organic shoots
in
color’s flow.

A curve, an angle—
then
a fade,

in
the blur,
transition’s wade.

The flat, the soft—
the
upward lift,

into
our dreams,
the glow that sifts.

The aubade source
dwells
in the morn,

a word, a music—
the
paint performs.

can grow,

organic shoots
in
color’s flow.

A curve, an angle—
then
a fade,

in
the blur,
transition’s wade.

The flat, the soft—
the
upward lift,

into
our dreams,
the glow that sifts.

The aubade source
dwells
in the morn,

a word, a music—
the
paint performs.

“The Upward Lift”

Against sienna—
shapes
can grow,

organic shoots
in
color’s flow.

A curve, an angle—
then
a fade,

in
the blur,
transition’s wade.

The flat, the soft—
the
upward lift,

into
our dreams,
the glow that sifts.

The aubade source
dwells
in the morn,

a word, a music—
the
paint performs.

“I walked into a room to see—a vase of flowers careening free. The sweeping spill from every side—the bright array in a bouquet tide. I thought of places color goes—picked up the brush, the paint flowed. The floral shapes began to form—the petals frill, the surface adorned. Until at last, there they were—the vibrant blooms, the brilliant stir.” ~ Gari Hatch

“Organic Movements”

Into the kingdoms
of
the outer realm—

where
alien vessels
turn and spin.

They coalesce
and
navigate—

arks with tails
in
textured space.

Organic movements
in
a sculpted bend—

what signal message
do
you send?

Traveling near
the
old space gate—

a holding pattern
where
you wait.

With koala eyes you look at me—magic moments flying free. Ride the eddies, catch the wind—spreading out, you learn to bend.” ~ Gari Hatch

Sculpted Textural Artwork:
8” x 10” surface
Acrylic on sculpted acrylic plaster with embedded stones

“Within the Cleft”

The rock, the stone,
the
ancient song—

the heart of man,
the
reaching bone.

Ancient, old,
within
the soul—

the relics keep,
the
story knows.

Extended arms,
the
shadow’s wing—

within
the cleft,
record the deep.

Still
above,
toward the light—

the glancing ray
to
second sight.

“Waiting for the summer light—when Cannas bloom with colors bright. A brilliant red above the beds—erect within the morning dews. The floral view fills our days—painted strokes record the way. The flaming blooms, the crimson petals—when flowers glow in southern meadows.” ~ Gari Hatch
