|Mykal Hall||568,437||+101145980349117737014 and +115105647022907007398 are here in Australia for a workshop in Port Stephens hosted by +111465359080289844494 on the 3-5 Jan 2014. I have twisted their arms to do a photowalk here in +104262770460851770269 on the 11 January 2014. So lets show our guest the welcome the Sydney Photo Community has to offer. We will meet on the steps in front of the Sydney Opera House at 6.30pm and slowly make our way to Hickson Rd Reserve for sunset and then to the end point at Observatory Hill by 9pm. I have plotted a few photo opportunity locations along the route as well as public toilets that I know of. https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zw_eAURDDMag.kLJfMBZmQ50o There are plenty of food outlets to grab a quick bite to eat at Circular Quay for the journey. I have walked the route in 1hr 40mins at a leisurely pace but you may want to stay at one location longer if you desire. That will be fine as long as we all get together at the start to greet Jay and Varina and then at the end point to say our goodbyes. Then afterwards if you still feel in the mood to chat over a drink we will be heading to The Hero of Waterloo (if there is only a small group) or the Harbour View Hotel (if there are more than the Hero can fit). I recommend catching public transport to Circular Quay or Town Hall but if you drive in there are a few parking stations within a short walk to the Opera House. I suggest downloading the "Cheap Parking App" from the Google playstore or iTunes. This will give you pricing options from closest or cheapest and links to get to them. I hope everyone has a great time during the walk socialising and remember you can approach Jay, Varina and myself at anytime to ask any questions. Please share this with anyone you may know who would want to join us. :))) Looking forward to see you all and don't forget the hash tag #PatelSydneyPhotowalk +107073852799630124249 ||Jay and Varina Patel Sydney Photowalk||2014-01-11 18:30:00||140|

|Drink and Click™ Sydney, Australia||346||EDIT: Notice the time change from Saturday to Sunday. Cheers! --------------------- Hi Sydney drinkandclickers! As some of you might know the *Art and About* festival is on in Sydney at the moment. As part of the festival there are *giant brightly coloured snails* scattered about the city. We'll go to see a few of the snails and stop in some pubs along the way, keep on reading for a more detailed itinerary: We'll meet on *Saturday* the *12th of October* at *4.30pm* at the *3 Wise Monkeys Pub* (http://goo.gl/maps/IEVQd) for a drink to start of a fantastic evening of photography. Then at 5.00pm we'll go past the _QVB orange snail,_ down the _Pitt St yellow snails_ on to the _Martin Place blue and yellow snails._ After that we will find another pub to have a couple of drinks. Perhaps Bar 333 or another one, I'm open to suggestions :) Also, October's worldwide Drink and Click challenge is *"Shadows"*. You can submit any images taking during this Drink and Click event to the event (hasn't been created yet) for a chance to win great prizes! I reckon there will be a lot of shadows to photograph around these giant snails :) Everyone is welcome to join us, wether you use a DSLR, iPhone, film or any kind of camera, come for some snaily action! However, it is compulsory to have a drink too (it can be beer, cider, coke, water or anything you like) :) I'm super excited about going to see the snails again with all you guys!! I hope you see you all there :) Cheers, +Ana Andres #drinkandclick #drinkandclicksyd #snailovation||Drink and Click Sydney goes to Snailovation||2013-10-13 16:30:00||17|

|paradigmblue||8,272||Hi peeps, Welcome to #ParadigmShift #4 First of all, a massive THANK YOU to all who participated in #ParadigmShift #1 - #3. I get a lot of feedback from peeps that they really enjoy this event so thanks for participating and playing by the rules. For #ParadigmShift #4, I chose an image I had a lot of fun with taking and editing. As most of you know, I've moved house recently and am still in the process of unpacking in my new home. After weeks and weeks of this, I needed a sanity break and ventured off to #PortMelbourne to catch the blue hour around this picturesque part of #Melbourne #Australia. If you come to Melbourne by boat, you'll dock into #StationPier and this is the first glimpse of Melbourne you'll get - the gateway to our city. In taking this image, I wanted to capture 3 elements - the sunset, the water and the buildings. To do so, a long exposure using an #ND400 filter was my choice. You'll notice that I have a dust issue on my sensor so it will be interesting to see those who take the time to clean this up. Other details are: Filter: ND400 Shutter: 30 secs ISO: 100 F /13 Shot on a Canon 6D (24-104mm) - focal length @ 24mm So there is plenty to pull out of the RAW file (linked below). As always, I look forward to your edits. Please play by the rules :) The Rules Step 1 Share this event on your public stream. Click on the "Share Event" button in the upper right corner of the event. My goal is for all your circles to know about this and participate if they're interested. If the above is not done and your image is submitted into the event, I have grounds to delete it. That sounds harsh I know - but I want this thing to grow and get out there. It's a small thing to do for access to a RAW file to edit and submit. Step 2 If I'm not in your circles, add me :) Step 3 Go nuts and edit, crop, process, HDR, monochrome - whatever floats your boat. Bring out the best of the image according to how you see it. But try to steer clear of using Photoshop to merge the image with others. Step 4 Add your edit to the event using the "Add Photo's" button in the upper right corner of the event. You are free to enter multiple edits into the event. Step 5 In addition to posting your edit into the event, post it on your public feed and tag me +paradigmblue so that I can find it. Be sure to tag it with #ParadigmShift Please note: 1. I still retain ownership of copyright on the image as I took it :) 2. Please don't provide a link to the original RAW file in your public posts. 3. And in the words of @116009459840268115761 "it's worth reiterating that this is not to establish the right or wrong way of treating and image, but more an exercise in exploring how different individuals would interpret the treatment of an image." - Couldn't have said it better - so I won't :) The event is good to go as you're reading this so don't wait and get to it! Ends on Sunday 10/05/2013 and the RAW file will be deleted. And most importa||#ParadigmShift #4||2013-05-10 13:00:00||39|

Tucked away in Sugarloaf Creek, Castlecrag is an urban gem in Sydney's northern suburbs. After steady rain there is a lovely series of falls starting with this beautiful teardrop fall and working its way down to a majestic horseshoe type fall. A tough series of falls to get to and they need just the right conditions to be at their best but well worth the effort.

For waterfall lovers we've recently had a great week in Sydney with hundreds of millimetres of rain. Somersby Falls is always a favourite and this image was taken as the first rays of sunshine were trying to break though the clouds again after 3 days of steady rain.

I love imagining shapes and creatures within these types of images. Here I see an elephant lying on its side with water rushing over its head.

Facing the Fall
Tucked away in Sugarloaf Creek, Castlecrag is an urban gem in Sydney's northern suburbs. After steady rain there is a lovely series of falls starting with a lovely teardrop fall and working it's way down to a majestic horseshoe type fall. This image comes from a small cascade downstream of the teardrop fall. A tough series of falls to get to and they need just the right conditions to be at their best but well worth the effort.
This is an update of a previous post and several people have noted the face in the rockface on the right hand side of the image - hence the title :))

Pretty happy to have picked up the Long Exposure category award at the International Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards. Congrats as well to my Focus buddies - Luke Austin, Luke Tscharke and Ricardo Da Cunha who took out the top gongs.
It's a shame they've used small images on the competition site. A clearer and higher res version of the image can be seen on my Flickr profile https://www.flickr.com/photos/grant6/16677118232

This is a re-edit of an old favourite. Previously it was a blend of soft blues and quite calming. This is somewhat different and maybe says something about my direction at the moment. Original image taken at Murrays Beach in Jervis Bay, NSW with an ICM image used as a texture.

A complete rethink of my approach with Instagram this month. Tired of the daily phone snap approach I've decided to use it solely as an alternative way of presenting my finer work. Namely that means square mono versions of everything if they aren't that way to begin with. It's been satisfying creating an Instagram edit and I hope will prove to be a nice use of this platform.
