Henry A. Otero (Hanko9)131,642*#Spartacus : War Of The Damned* Gaius Claudius Glaber is dead. Many months have passed since his defeat, and the rebel army, led by Spartacus and his generals Crixus, Gannicus and Agron, continue to amass victories over Rome. With the rebel numbers swelling to thousands of freed slaves, it has become a force that has started to challenge even the mighty armies of Rome. Spartacus is more determined than ever to bring down the entire Roman Republic. Following the death of Ashur, Naevia and Crixus fight as one with newfound strength and determination. And Gannicus, always seeking to embrace life to the fullest, shares his bed with the beautiful and dangerous Saxa. Together, the rebels engage in one bloody skirmish after another and prepare for the inevitable: a full out war with Rome. The Roman Senate turns to its wealthiest citizen, Marcus Crassus, for aid. A powerful, strategic politician, he respects his opponent and refuses to make the same mistakes Glaber and his predecessors have. With a young and fiercely competitive Julius Caesar as an ally, Crassus is determined to crush Spartacus and his rebellion. The epic conclusion of a legendary journey, Spartacus: War of the Damned will unleash a battle unlike anything ever seen before.Spartacus: War of the Damned [Season Premiere]2013-01-26 03:00:00142

On this day in 1981, at exactly 12:01 am, MTV made its broadcast debut with the words "Ladies and gentlemen, rock and roll." The MTV concept launched a cultural revolution, and its unexpected success made Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter, J.J. Jackson and Martha Quinn overnight celebrities as the network's first VJ's. Can you name the first two videos that MTV aired that day?

1956, Carl Perkins was on the UK singles chart with his debut UK hit 'Blue Suede Shoes'. Johnny Cash planted the seed for the song in the fall of 1955, while Perkins, Cash, Elvis Presley, toured throughout the South. Cash told Perkins of a black airman whom he had met when serving in the military in Germany. He had referred to his military regulation air shoes as "blue suede shoes." Cash suggested that Carl write a song about the shoes.

July 28th 1956, Gene Vincent made his first appearance on national TV in the US on The Perry Como Show. Vincent had released ‘Woman Love’ the previous month, but it was the B-side, ‘Be-Bop-A-Lula,’ that eventually made the top 10. The song had been purchased from a fellow hospital patient when Vincent was recovering from leg injuries. A demo of the song made its way to Capitol Records as part of an Elvis sound-alike contest and a re-recorded version gave Vincent a hit.

1979, 'I Don't Like Mondays' gave The Boomtown Rats their second UK No.1 single. Bob Geldof wrote the song after reading a report on the shooting spree of 16-year-old Brenda Ann Spencer, who fired at children playing in a school playground across the street from her home in San Diego, California. She killed two adults and injured eight children and one police officer. Spencer showed no remorse for her crime, and her full explanation for her actions was "I don't like Mondays, this livens up the day."

July 28th 1960, Roy Orbison entered the UK chart with 'Only The Lonely', which went on to give Roy his first of 3 UK chart toppers. As an operatic rock ballad, it was a sound unheard of at the time, and is seen as a seminal event in the evolution of Rock and Roll. Released as a 45rpm single by Monument Records in May, 1960, 'Only The Lonely' went to No. 2 on the United States. The song was turned down by The Everly Brothers and Elvis Presley, so Orbison decided to record the song himself

The Premier of Ontario is jogging with her dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks the Premier's dog, then bites the Premier.
The Premier starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie "Bambi" and then realizes she should stop because the coyote is only doing what is natural.
She calls animal control. Animal Control captures the coyote and bills the province $200 testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it.
She calls a veterinarian. The vet collects the dead dog and bills the province $200 testing it for diseases.

The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while the Ministry of Natural Resources conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals.
The Premier spends $50,000 in provincial funds implementing a "coyote awareness program" for residents of the area.
The Liberal Party spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world.
The Premier's security agent is fired for not stopping the attack. The Province spends $150,000 to hire and train a new officer with additional special training for the nature of coyotes.
PETA protests the coyote's relocation and files a $5 million suit against the province

TEXAS

The Governor of Texas is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks his dog.
The Governor shoots the coyote with his state-issued pistol and keeps jogging. The Governor has spent $.50 on a .45 ACP hollow pointcartridge.
The buzzards eat the dead coyote.

And that, my friends, is why Ontario is broke and Texas is not.___
