Peter Bryant7,517Fill your stream with great photosAdd these guys if you enjoy seeing original, awesome, photos in your stream. I've been curating this list for a couple of years.  I typically cherry pick people here only after viewing their stream and seeing a consistent set of images I enjoy.  I mostly don't put people here that simply re-share photos. There are a few of the 'to be expected' photo big shots.  Plus a few great (yet unknown, uncommonly followed) photographers.+Shared Circles on G+ #sharedcircles #photographers  2013-07-23 02:10:15373839

Blake Harrold8,477Blake's Circle of Inspirational Photographers 6#blakescircleofinspirationalphotographers6This circle includes 300 amazing and inspirational photographers. These great photographers just need to get noticed, and here, they will.If you think you deserve to be included in the next Circle, simply do the following1. Reshare the post publicly 2. +1 and Comment on the Original Post3. That's it! Just sit back and relax. Why Should You Share This Post?1. You are supporting all of the other photographers who were in the previous shared circle.2. You are helping spread the word, so more photographers get their work noticed.3. It gives you a better chance of getting added to the next photography circle.4. It actually gives you a better chance of getting more followers and people noticing your work. So say if you reshared the post, then someone else will reshare it from your repost and therefore more and more people will know about it!There are probably many other reasons but i just hope that those four will get you to reshare the post to your stream :)If you are included in this current circle, It would be great if you could add the circle or share it to your stream. The Next Circle will be shared on the 22nd, January 2013 and just to keep the circle fresh, everyone in this circle will be cleared. David Waddington2,952Sharing 500 Canadians circle. This circle is bigger and I tried to change it so that it was only 500 but when you delete someone from circle it deletes them from all circles. Really weird. I will share part 2 tomorrow but I honestly don't know who of the 668 are not included. If someone can help me fix this issue it would be appreciated because I would like to be able to include everyone that I can.If you are Canadian or living in Canada and not included in this circle leave a comment and I will make sure you are added to part 2.+Amanda Blain perhaps there are some Canadians in this circle that were not in the one you shared.Oh, for those of you that haven't filled out your profile page yet it is a good idea to do so. Stating in your profile the things that interest you will increase the possibility of you being added to circles. Not everyone adds people because they are Canadian.2012-10-15 00:26:015011506

If your comment gets plus 1'd by me then you have been added. I will share this circle again at a later date with new additions.I also have a circle for users in Edmonton. If you are in Edmonton and wish to be added just note in your comment that you are in Edmonton.  I have added quite a few users from Edmonton in the last while. Thomas Hawk2,461,0112,000 Kick Ass Photographers on Google+Part 1 of 4 (A-Ev)This is the fourth time since joining G+ almost a year ago that I'm sharing my photographers circle.  I shared it with 500 photographers, 1,000 photographers, 1,500 photographers and now 2,000 photographers.  I have to break my circle up into four 500 photographer circles as that is the G+ limit.  Each day this week (Mon.- Thurs.) I'll share a different circle.  Today is the first circle and includes photographers with the last name's A-Ev (although +Marc Evans you are in tomorrow's circle).  A few notes about these circles.  I always get hated on when I share them by people.  Inevitably if I include 2,000 people, I will leave 50,000 people out.  This is not intentional or personal.  This circle is not "the best" photographers on G+ or in the world.  It doesn't mean if you are not in my circle that you are not a "quality" photographer.  This list is simply photographers that I've stumbled across for whatever reason over the past year and have chosen to follow their work.  In some cases I've gotten to know the photographers in this circle personally -- through photowalks and trips, hangouts, in real life, etc.  Many of these people are or have become my friends.  Most of the photographers in my circle though I don't even know.  They are just people whose work I admire and want to consume -- I hope many are future friends.  :)I use some objective criteria with this circle but I use a lot of subjective criteria too.  This is, afterall, my own personal circle that I look at and +1 from every single day.  My aesthetic taste and personal preferences may be very, very different than yours.  This is ok.  Art is subjective.  That said, here a breakdown of my own preferences and biases that influence who I add into my circle.1.  I like people who are active on G+.  If you haven't posted one of your photos in the last month you probably are not in this circle.  I use a script to uncircle inactive people regularly.2.  I like photographers who mostly post their own photographs.  I dislike clutter and "dumb stuff" in my photographers circle.  Excessive reshares, circle shares, memes, gifs, youtube videos, posts not about photography, web links, etc. make me uncircle or move people to a different circle.  I also like photographers who regulate how much of their photography they post to their stream.  I don't want to see 50 shots in a row of someone's vacation.  I think about 5 photos max a day feels about right to me.3.  *Controversial* I dislike signatures and watermarks.  You will find photographers in my circle that use them.  It's just a bias, not a hard and fast rule.  I mostly want this stream to be as watermark/signature free as possible.  I totally understand and respect your reasons and decision for using watermarks/signatures.  I hope you equally respect my decision to not want to consume photos mared up with them.  Please don't turn this into a discussion about watermarks/sigs, I've spent the last 10 years thinking heavily about this issue.  It's just a personal preference and bias.4.  I like people who are active, positive, helpful, enthusiastic G+ community members.  I dislike people who are rude, mean, complainers, trolls, harrasers, etc.  If you say mean things to people, about people, about their art or their work I don't want to follow you.  I'm fine with debate and disagreement.  It should just be done respectfully -- there's a huge difference between respectful disagreement and rude behavior.  Not only will you not be in this circle if you are rude, I'll probably 2012-06-04 16:53:26500226139424

Ryan Van Sickle12,360MY FIRST SHARED CIRCLEI'v been on G+ for 6 months now and it's been an incredible experience! My first hangout was pretty terrifying though haha! However, with some encouragement from +Daniel Ely Rankin I decided to play a random hangout concert and I think there was maybe 4 or 5 people that joined in. Needless to say it was a little disheartening but after a few more hangouts I started to meet some really wonderful people on here. So to make a long story short I have created a circle with people in it that have supported me from very early on in my G+ experience, But, these people are not just fans they are friends. They love and support the arts and artists here on G+ and some are even artists themselves. Bottom line, they are amazing people and having them in your circles will make your G+ experience that much better! Thank you all!If I left you out and you feel like you should be in this circle just kick me in the ass for forgetting you and you'll be added. Cheers!2012-03-14 02:00:3875471942

P E Sharpe14,199Blame Canada, redux...O Canada. A shared history, a shared circle. The Postmodern Condition is a small but significant tome: published in French in 1979 and translated into English in 1984, it is arguably the singlemost agent provocateur in the resultant march towards Political Correctness, AKA dispensing with grand narratives in favour of social relativism. Why am I telling you this? Well, let me point you to Wikipedia: "The Postmodern Condition was written as a report on the influence of technology on the notion of knowledge in exact sciences, commissioned by the Québec government. Lyotard later admitted that he had a 'less than limited' knowledge of the science he was to write about, and to compensate for this knowledge, he 'made stories up' and referred to a number of books that he hadn't actually read. In retrospect, he called it 'a parody' and 'simply the worst of all my books'.[4] Despite this, and much to Lyotard's regret, it came to be seen as his most important piece of writing." There's more, but I'll save that for another time.Without further ado, here is my updated and revised O Canada shared circle. Approach with caution. The editor of this circle accepts no responsibility for any global insurrections caused by any individual included in this circle, or for their anger at being circled by a bunch of G+ yahoos they don't know. #OCanada #sharedcircles #sharedpubliccircles +Shared Circles on G+2012-02-10 23:54:083001418

Thomas Hawk846,3871,500 Kick Ass Photographers on Google+ (A-G, Part 1 of 3)1,500 Kick Ass Photographers on Google+ (A-G, Part 1 of 3) http://goo.gl/WGdFw1,500 Kick Ass Photographers on Google+ (G-O, Part 2 of 3) http://goo.gl/1yiS61,500 Kick Ass Photographers on Google+ (P-Z, Part 3 of 3) http://goo.gl/6nLZEI've shared my photographers circle on Google+ two times now. Once when it got to 500 and then again when it got to 1,000. Today my circle hit 1,500 so I'm sharing them again.I have to break them up into 500 person circles because this is the limit on Google+. Also Google limits the number of people you can add to circles per day so I'm going to publish my kick ass photographers circle over 3 days. Today I'm publishing A-G. Tomorrow I'll publish G-O. Friday I'll publish P-Z. By last name.In addition to the kick ass photographers in these circles I've also added three other accounts. Our new photography hangout show which will be on live tonight at 8PM PST +Photo Talk Plus as well as our show's sponsors +Drobo and +SmugMug as a way of saying thanks to them.A few notes about these circles. not to be long-winded, but…Every time I've shared my circles I've gotten haters from it. People who are upset that they are not in them. I absolutely detest that. It makes me not even want to share them because of that. These circles are not meant to be the definitive list of what photographers you should be following on Google+. These circles are simply who I have chosen to follow for photography on Google+ for my own personal consumption. I want to share them because I think YOU may also benefit from having these rich, talented, kick ass photographers in your streams. This is the circle that I browse every single day looking for great stuff to +1 and comment on Google+ and as such it reflects my own personal biases. For example. I hate looking at watermarks. This is a personal preference thing. If you use them, more power to you. It's absolutely your right. But as a consumer of photography I find them ugly and distracting and so I tend not to follow people who use them. This is not a big deal. This is not a personal attack against you if you watermark. This isn't even a universal rule of mine. I do have a few friends who use them that I still follow. But by and large, what you get with my circles is a watermark/signature free circle. I also prefer people who are active on Google+ both in terms of posting and in terms of contributing to the community. If the last photo you posted was in November, I probably won't have you in this list.If you were in my photographers circle before but removed, it could be for a lot of these sorts of reasons. Watermarks/sigs, not posting enough, posting too much non photography stuff that I'm not interested in, or all kinds of other things. Who knows. But it's most definitely not personal. (Unless I'm blocking you and then maybe it is personal). Also if you are not in these circles it may simply be because we don't know each other yet. In time perhaps we will become great friends (hopefully). Or you may not be in these circles just 2012-01-18 23:20:26500193111261

[Auto-Post] I just unlocked the "Multiple" Achievement in AutoVoice for Android Tasker!

This is what I had to do to get it: Triggered multiple AutoVoice profiles with just one command! To do this, simply say 2 or more voice commands in the same sentence. All eligible Tasker profiles with "AutoVoice Recognized" conditions will be matched :)

When we launched Google+ over three years ago, we had a lot of restrictions on what name you could use on your profile. This helped create a community made up of real people, but it also excluded a number of people who wanted to be part of it without using their real names.

Over the years, as Google+ grew and its community became established, we steadily opened up this policy, from allowing +Page owners to use any name of their choosing to letting YouTube users bring their usernames into Google+. Today, we are taking the last step: there are no more restrictions on what name you can use.

#opensource   #3dprinting   #patents

DISCLAIMER: I am not a lawyer but I know quite some. This is no legal advice. This is my personal offer to assist in making the Open Hardware community feel more safe. This is NOT related to my employer, Red Hat

Dear +MakerBot Bot, here's an idea for you to ponder. Take a look at http://www.redhat.com/footer/patent-promise.html The Red Hat Patent Promise. To put it in simple terms, we at Red Hat apply for patents, mostly out of defensive reasons in a world of patent trolls. But we are fully aware that we must defend the freedom of Open Source and Open Innovation. So we have the legally binding promise that we will never use our patents against developers of Open Source software. It's not the perfect solution, but it is definitely better than your current approach of filing patents and not declaring what the community can do or NOT do.

A year ago I offer +bre pettis my help in working on a similar approach for Makerbot, this however never happened. I am still ready to help and hook you guys up with my network. I think you could have avoided a lot of negative vibes with a patent promise in the Red Hat style.

This is not cool. #Makerbot  (owned by #Stratasys ) has started patenting ideas that were contributed to the  #opensource  community and through designs published for free with a #creativecommons  licence on #thingiverse  (which is owned by Makerbot).  This could cause a lot of backlash against Thingiverse and Makerbot. ___ #TakerBot

Help make the future of 3D printing a reality by backing the PrintToPeer Indiegogo campaign. Connect your 3D printer to the web!

I've used the Alpha version and it worked on my #makibox   #3dprinter   There is some work to do to make it perfect, which is why this campaign is so important. It's quite impressive and has a lot of potential. I was able to do the setup including adding a wireless wi-fi adapter to my #raspberrypi  and have it working on my printer in about an hour. That can only be speed up from here. It was really weird being able to control my printer wirelessly through a web browser. ___Help make the future of 3D printing a reality by backing the PrintToPeer Indiegogo campaign.
