Bearman Cartoons46,344Active Cartoonists on G+I realized that when +CircleCount used an old circle share of cartoon folks on G+ that many were no longer active (and a few were into cartoons but not cartoonists)So here is the updated circle.  You will find some good people in here.  If you are following me and should be in this circle, let me know.Thx2013-07-18 16:43:143136511

Samantha Villenave247,724Got Art? - Part 12: Artists - T - Z (by first name) - FINAL CIRCLEI have made it to the end of my art circles. This is the last artist circle share - linking to circles of over 1000 wonderful visual artists here on G+.Part 1: Artists - A: http://bit.ly/NDM6ifPart 2: Artists - B: http://bit.ly/PlfKbXPart 3: Artists - C: http://bit.ly/NoWtDTPart 4: Artists - D - E: http://bit.ly/N2xXNlPart 5: Artists - F - I: http://bit.ly/Ss6FMWPart 6: Artists - J: http://bit.ly/NP4g0zPart 7: Artists - K - L: http://bit.ly/Nv2dvLPart 8: Artists - M: http://bit.ly/NXHZ0vPart 9: Artists N - Q: http://bit.ly/RwTQpJPart 10: Artists - R: http://bit.ly/OutiRePart 11: Artists - S: http://bit.ly/OQBmcrThe text below is copied from the original circle share part 1, because, no, people aren't going to click to read it, and haters will hate, so I must reiterate. Sorry! :)At nearly over 1000, my art circle is bursting at the seams. It's too big to share on it's own anymore, so I thought I'd break it down into several smaller circles, to share over a period of days. These people fill my streams with visual imagery, sometimes beautiful, experimental, evocative... each one has a unique perspective and practice. Most of these people are painters, drawers, illustrators, sculptors, etc. (I generally keep my photogs in a separate circle, with a few exceptions, for good measure. So yes, this circle is a different beast.)The desire to connect with other artists is what brought me to G+, and it is a huge part of why I am still here.**************************************************************************A note about this circle, and my sharing it.Every time I share a circle, I get a backlash of anger from people that are not in it. Honestly, it is to the point that I rarely share circles. Please know that this circle is not all of the artists that you should be following here on Google+, it is simply the artists that I follow. I have chosen them for personal reasons, and enjoy following each of them. I am sharing them because I believe that you may also enjoy following them. This circle reflects my choices, of whom to follow, please be respectful of that. If you are an artist, and not in my circles, please feel free to say hi and let me know in the comments, so that I can mosey on over to your profile and see your work!  #art #creativity #sharedcircles   2012-08-22 09:34:588211520

So, what we thought was a leaky $10 water hose on my 1993 Miata MX5 has turned into $600 worth of parts.

The first image shows the $10 hose where coolant was leaking. So, since the car is 21 years old, I decided to replace ALL the water hoses, and the belts were in need of replacing as well. So, $225.00 in hoses & belts. My son is doing all the labor in his High School Automotive class, so I'm saving a TON on labor.

The second and third images shows where my son found a teeny-tiny crack in the elbow of this water inlet casting. THAT threw a wrench in the whole works. So we had to figure out that part and then order it from Mazda, who has been very helpful in this whole process. Nice to get support even for a 21-year old car.

With a new part on order, my son's instructor inspected the front end of the car and found that the tie-rods and ball-joints on both sides... more »

31 Days of Hanna-Barbera for ‪#inktober  continues with Days 5 & 6: Hong Kong Phooey and Rosemary! 2 Characters, 2 Days. See the logic? Yeah...

Anyway, Hong Kong Phooey was voiced by the great Scatman Crothers. Giving the cartoon an even cooler vibe. And Rosemary had the typical '60s male-sexist line of "Hallo, hallo, this is Rosemary the telephone operator, the lovely lassie with the classy chassis" So, I of course gave her a classy chassis.

Mr. +Tom Racine  requested this one, so there you go Tom...  :)

You go girl! I never knew this fact until today. That a woman was the lead software engineer on the Apollo moon landing program and it was her software that helped Apollo 11 overcome the computer errors encountered while landing! Now you know.

And does anyone else think she looks like Big Bang's Amy Farrah Fowler in that shot?

With a new part on order, my son's instructor inspected the front end of the car and found that the tie-rods and ball-joints on both sides were shot. So much so he didn't want to let the car go without them being replaced. So, that's a good thing as if those had broken, it would have pretty much totaled the car. This explains all the parts in the fourth image.

So, a $10 hose turns into all of that. Part of this is, find a mechanic you can trust and if they say "replace that part or total the car" you should listen. I'm just glad to have all this behind me now. Plus, I've saved nearly $2000 in labor for all of this. I guess I'll have to buy my son something for Christmas now... :)___

Okay. Poll time. This is easy. Which form of comic do you prefer? I've put together three formats of the latest 1977 comic in B&W, Flat Colors, and Fully Shaded.

For me, adding flat colors is cinch, and as color is free in the internet, I've always leaned toward color. But, as my style has progressed, so has my shading techniques, and frankly, they take up a lot of time. For illustrations and commissions, that time is necessary. But, is it necessary for a comic strip?

Let me know your thoughts. It will help me moving forward.

Final sketch of Robyn. I like my pencils to be tight so I don't have to experiment much in the inking stage. I may put a bit too much time into my pencils, but I love the process, so, there you go. :)

A commission a day keeps the doctor away...

I'm opening up this next week to do commissions. I already have the first two lined up (thank you +Dave Wilson ) and now need to fill up the rest of the week! Five more commissions and I'll meet my goal!

Go over to my on-line store and pick which type of commission you want. If you're looking for a custom pin-up commission, email me and I'll quote you. Details on all my commissions are at the on-line store.

PATREON patrons... you get 20% off anything in the store. See the latest post over at Patreon for details. For the rest of you, $1/month can save you 20% just like that! That's even faster than Geico Insurance. :)

Aw man, former bassist for Cream, Jack Bruce, has died at age 71. Images of him with his Gibson SG style bass and Marshall stacks that most influenced me to purchase an SG knock-off bass back in '73.

Another great bites the dust. Here's one news story on him:

And this happened today.

George Carlin is my favorite comedian of all time. He and Bill Cosby influenced my humor in ways I cannot count. Great to see New York finally honor the man who made us all laugh for decades. I believe the next 7 blocks are named for the 7 words you can't say on TV. Appropriate for New York. "I live on Motherfucker Way, man..." How cool would that be?

Anyway, here's to you, George! :)

Robin and Bud sketches for next week's new 1977 the Comic Halloween comic. I felt it time to get back on the horse. I'm going to take small steps and not announce any type of posting schedule. As I get back in a groove, we'll see what happens. I couldn't let these characters end like they did and have way too many stories left in me.

This is a take-off of "Shaun of the Dead" by the way, thus explaining Bud's tie. :)

Well, +Robin Childs challenged me to list 15 films that influenced me or changed my life. Here they are. I even give you a brief description why. If you're so inclined to do such lists, join in!

1. "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" (1963) Introduced me to TONS of comedic actors as well as a great cameo by the Three Stooges.

2. "Bambi" (1966 release) Scarred me for life when his Mom was killed. I actually thought of that scene during my Mom's funeral in 1985.

3. "Fantastic Voyage" (1966) Hooked me on Sci-Fi and Raquel Welch at the young age of 9.

4. "Hawaii" 1966 with my Mom. 189 minutes long!

5. "The Boston Strangler" (1968) At age 11, my sister took me to this film not knowing how graphic it was. I have hated violence of any type since seeing this film.

6. "Butch Cassidy and... more »

6. "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" (1969) The ultimate western with the best pair of actors ever. The novelization was written in quasi-film script style and turned me on to writing for TV and film.

7. "Patton" 1970 with my Mom. 170 minutes long!

8. "The Godfather" 1972 with my Mom. 175 minutes long! My Mom loved these long, epic films. Taught me to love the soundtracks and intermissions.

9. "Star Wars" (1977) Saw it 13 times in theaters that year. THE ultimate Sci-Fi film. Period.

10. "Superman" (1978) The ONLY real Superman film to date.

11. "Alien" (1979) Taught me Sci-Fi can also be scary and to take girlfriends to scary movies so they cling to you.

12. "Land Before Time" (1988) When Little Foot's Mom dies, I cry every time remembering the passing of my own Mother.

13. "Batman" (1989) Dark and fun at the same time.

14. "The Lion King" (1994) Reminded me how I was passing on my family's name with my sons and wondered where I would fit in the great circle of life when I eventually pass away. Also, the BEST animated film ever. Disney or otherwise.

15. “The Avengers” (2012) First film in years that I actually saw several times in theaters. Reminded me how films can be both fun and great at the same time.___

New page over at the Adrastus Web-Comic which I have been coloring now for about a month. Getting the hang of coloring someone else's art. Was weird at first not seeing my own characters. I've been experimenting with a variety of techniques and am learning with each new page. Kinda the point.

So, go read and enjoy Liz Staley's comic!
