If you received a notification then you are in it! I curate the be-jesus out of this circle and you don't get in just by doing the plus, comment, share thing on this post. I make this circle up based on interactions on all of my other posts.Sharing, commenting, plussing is all encouraged and appreciated BUT re-share for your own reasons. Sharing won't get you in, not sharing will not get you tossed out. Again - not that kind of circle. There is plenty of room, Circle will be revised. #engagerscircle #engagersshowcasecircle #circleshare ||2014-04-16 21:05:12||198||0||0||1||CC G+|

|Meilani MacDonald||2,935||Small Business circle 2 of 2Hello small business peeps! I'm a small biz person and naturally I want to connect with other small biz owners. I really feel we all have so much to share with each other and to learn from one another as we navigate this world called Google+ that provides us with so many great tools and resources to support our small biz efforts. I also think it's a good thing to support each other, and lift each other up as we work towards our goals. So I've been collecting small biz people and shared small biz & entrepreneurs circles, because those are the people I most want in my own circles, to follow, to connect with, and to support. I have 700+ small bizzes in my circle, so I've split it into two circles to share with you. This is #2 of the 2. Let's hear it for small business!Btw, speaking of supporting small bizzes, I host a TGIF Biz Networking Hangout every Friday at 4pm pst, now a Hangout on Air. It is a chance to give yourself and your biz a little promo, and I feature special guests who are small biz owners and who have all kinds of good advice and info to share with other small biz owners. Please check my profile for more info or to watch last Friday's episode, where we talked about QR codes and great ideas for how to use them, and also talked about the value of keeping content fresh on your blogs and web sites, and when and why to blog, or not to blog. #smallbusiness #entrepreneur #sharedcircles +CircleCount +Shared Circles Shared a Circle with You +Shared a Circle with you||2012-05-28 18:24:39||330||21||13||18||CC G+|
|Rob Gordon||22,157||*Entrepreneurs, Self-Employed & Small Business OwnersUPDATED SHARED CIRCLE: Part 1 of 2: A through L (by last name).Link to Part (M-Z): http://goo.gl/0Fcg1Link to Supplemental 1: http://goo.gl/AXXrWLink to Supplemental 2: http://goo.gl/TZKKeLike to Supplemental 3: http://goo.gl/3x6hINOTE: This circle is no longer maintained in its present form but is still a good place to start if you are looking for entrepreneurs to follow and connect with here. It has mostly been replace with a Google+ community of the same name that you can find at http://goo.gl/ejG9P**********************This is the most recent update to the popular "entrepreneurs" circle that posted a few months ago. As you can see, it has gotten bigger than 500 people so I have had to split it alphabetically into two parts. These two circles includes the self employed, small business owners, independent contractors, small startup companies and pretty much anyone trying to make it outside of the traditional economy. This is different from the other business circles of this type in that it doesn't include too many of the "celebrity entrepreneurs" and instead has mostly people with their own business or venture. There are more than 800 people here, but this has been reviewed extensively since it was last published -lots of fantastic new people have been added, and some have been dropped - mostly because they don't interact much. The end result is a circle of really awesome business people who actively interact with others here and have a small business or entreprenueral mindset. This is a really diverse group and includes entrepreneurs of all stripes - some have well established ventures and are wildly successful, others are just getting started and haven't made it yet. As can be expected, it is a little tech heavy, but represents most industries and many different types of business. There are even a handful of people here who have traditional jobs, but seem to have an interest in small business issues and always seem welcome to help entrepreneurial efforts. The people in these circles post all manner of things - not just business, but all are smart and interesting people so I recommend that you check this out.I do want to add the disclaimer that this is in no way "definitive" - there are millions of entrepreneurs on Google+ and this is just a tiny fraction of them - the ones I have curated. It seems that about two seconds after I publish this I always remember someone I should have included so just me know if you think you should be here. I republish this periodically and generally add everyone who comments on the post.As with all circles of this size I would use some discretion in adding this - either update your existing circle, pick and choose the ones you like or use these as a trial circles - whatever works for you. I'm not even sure Google will let you add all this many names at once so you may have to come back if you want to add all of them. The technology for this is not perfect, but I am trying to do my part to help build a highly interconnected community of entrepreneurs here on Google+.I hope you find the people in this circle interesting.RobReshares welcome and appreciatedIMPORTANT: You don't want to follow people based on where their last name fits in the alphabit do you? "if you dont increase you IT budget you are falling behind" Ahem. No.
For a SaaS company with exponential growth that is at or below Moore's "double every 12-18 months", hardware expenses will remain the same year over year, wether $20k, $200k, or $2M per year. In other words, after one is able to deliver on customer contracts, any amount allocated above is driven by relative positioning vs the competition.
This is where many people's mental models are wrong. This is where Cassandra is wrong when is desires ever more boxes. More boxes just cost more in electricity. Exponential technology trends are also why it is possible to virtualize multiple old servers into one new server without a loss of functionality.
So to be clear, nothing that I do is about downsizing anything, quite the contrary. More robust, more flexible, and supporting... more »

PG's problem understanding founders with accents, if he indeed has one, is causing waves on the Internets.
From personal experience, decoding spoken accents may be a skill in itself, a separate process in the brain. At 17 I was one of 250 kids from dozens of countries that toured the US for six weeks and remember how understanding each other was not just a question of English, we all spoke it fluently having just spent a year at US highschools or colleges, but also of being able to get past each other's accents. Easy for some, impossible for others, sometimes influenced by how tired people where.
Communication isn't as simple as it looks.

"Electronic theorists have been using the wrong pair of variables all these years--voltage and charge. The missing part of electronic theory was that the fundamental pair of variables is flux and charge," said Chua. "The situation is analogous to what is called "Aristotle's Law of Motion, which was wrong, because he said that force must be proportional to velocity. That misled people for 2000 years until Newton came along and pointed out that Aristotle was using the wrong variables. Newton said that force is proportional to acceleration--the change in velocity. This is exactly the situation with electronic circuit theory today. All electronic textbooks have been teaching using the wrong variables--voltage and charge--explaining away inaccuracies as anomalies. What they should have been teaching is the relationship between changes in voltage, or flux, and charge."

Not just young people. I always felt that FB is a waste of time because everything it does I can do better and more targeted with other tools.
Still wondering about how useful Google Plus is although on occasion there is something interesting. But HackerNews is more focused.
LinkedIn is getting better as people engage more. But there I am beginning to question how helpful it is to show everybody one's resume.
Keek is fun in a silly random way. Interesting to me how they blend celebs with normal people into "friends".

When I was in first grade they started us in math with set theory.
It was experimental approach, no reading or writing, we where learning that in another class, instead all we had where red and green marbles.
Addition, subtraction, all kinds of math naturally comes out of set theory! We loved it, best introduction to math ever! Everybody was engaged.
Parents where outraged, this did not look anything like the math that they had had in school and sadly eventually succeeded in killing the program.

The locust economy.. I marvel at supermarkets these days.
Paper bags where the handles come off. Club membership that makes me enter my phone every time. Having to wait behind people with coupons. Having to remember which items are normal priced and which ones are short term sucker priced today. Prices that double and half in the course of days. Two or three for one deals. Misleading yellow stickers that sometimes are discounts, sometimes not.
One can feel the spreadsheet toting analyst in the back room, telling his bosses that he is optimizing profit yield. May I suggest that measuring customer satisfaction not short term profits might be better if you want to maximize long term yield?
Its all good though because by making shopping this mentally expensive you push me into learning how to store food and buying things online and in bulk, direct from the producer, which saves... more »

Awesome, well done. How they incorporated the natural water flow. The constant perception of being outside, inspired from japanese architecture. The contrast between modern flat surfaces and centuries old aged textures. Completely energy independent.

Not a Beck fan by any stretch but this is amazing camera work.
For those who like to yell about corporations, look, this is what a company is, see all those people working towards the goal of getting others to part with their money in exchange for an enjoyable experience?
Struggling people doing the best they can with what they have.

This is a great illustration of collective phenomena. If you look closely, each dot is just moving around in a regular circle; but because the different circles are out of phase with each other, when you back away you see waves steadily moving across the screen. It's a simple demonstration of how large-scale, collective phenomena can emerge from very simple small-scale behavior. Things like this happen all over the place: water waves and sound waves, for example, work in basically the same way, with the small back-and-forth motions of individual molecules leading to compression patterns moving through the air.

NASA could easily fund itself with cool stuff like selling movie tickets to things like landing on Mars. Science is content, physics is that awesome.
Hyperbaric oxygen and use of red light to stimulate healing on the cellular level. SAD prevention and better sleep with light therapy, blue light in the morning, white during the day, red at night. Grow plants, only about 50 square meters are needed to provide food and oxygen to one person.
Whatever you pay for you get more of. Where capitalism has a problem with ignorant buyers, non profits have a problem with ignorant donors.
What makes one person become a scientist while another with similar brain power creates a non profit to blow people up and create misery?
Random thought of the morning..

MIT developed a method to show normally not visible changings in colour and motion. Incredible possibilities combined with Google Glass.

"They're actually doing maths in a simple, chemical way - that's amazing, it astonished us as scientists to see that," the plants must be performing a mathematical calculation - arithmetic division

To the extend that our hardware choices say something about us, quite interesting these maps. LA maps look exactly how I would have thought.

My entry into the Connected World M2M hackathon in June. Personalized gasoline.
Used iobridge hardware, Osisoft data from a live vehicle, made a simple iPad app for geofencing.
A cloud based app calculates optimal additives. Blinkenlights represent the mixing, cup tilting is adding the additives to the tank. Won an iPad mini with this!

I have been thinking about mathematical notation and its impact recently. Mainly in the context of computer languages. There is practicality, just try multiplication and division with roman numbers. But there are deeper issues, compare functional languages and applicative languages.
