A walk in the hills.....2.2
Just added 3 more photos to an album dedicated to a refreshing walk in the hills with friends. A great day.....even Mr Wooty came out to sit and meditate on a mossy log.
Thanks to everyone that took the time to view, plus & comment at the first share.
Cheers.

To +Google +Brian Matiash +Google+ Help and everybody. I've noticed that when starting the latest version of the G+ app it defaults to show "All Circles" rather than previous versions that opened with circle that was viewed when closed. and I cannot find ways to change that.
Is there something I have missed or is it an issue others have found too?

The Other B&W's
On a visit to the State Library one evening, the joy of row upon row of books. All that knowledge sitting there waiting to be picked up by someone.

POSTCARD TIME!
I love getting postcards from around the world. Here's one I received today. All the way from the United Arab Emirates.
And yes +Paul Pavlinovich I'm pointing at the toe of the camel. ;-)

A walk in the hills.......2
How do you judge a good day? If it involves joining dear friends, walking through Sherbrooke Forest in the Dandenongs photographing nature...then having a beer and fish & chips. Then that is a winner.

A lazy Sunday morning read to get you motivated.
I can only speak for myself, but I have fallen into one or two of these categories at times.
Lol. Hope you enjoy.

"Is there anybody out there...?"
The beauty of living close to the Dandenong Ranges is the ever changing scenery. And thanks to the oncoming winter, low cloud certainly adds to it's charm.

Well, I think this fits within the theme........
I Googled the idea of "framed" and had a few ideas...but they were too hard, stupid or really didn't convey it in the Trace McLean way.
So instead I set up a backdrop or two and controlled what I don't like....having my photo taken.
Cheers.

Nice to see that +Paul Pavlinovich has his painting up at the State library.
Hey Paul, you gonna wear that on the next photowalk?

Goooood morning everyone.
I just thought I'd pass on this link to a small, but interesting article.
It does open a whole can of worms about photo manipulation and techniques.
We all have different views on what is, isn't, can, shouldn't be "allowed" or done. Especially in the area of photo journalism.
Faked? Or is it merely enhanced?

A day away from it all
Today I took a drive to get away from it all.
I headed up the highway and passed through the small town of Marysville. I ended up travelling along a dirt road that followed a river. Myself and several of the Melbourne Photography group had visited there weeks before.
This time it was just me, a camera and a tripod.......
I really could've stayed there longer and just sat amongst the fern trees and listened to the gentle flow of the river.

Do you like 1 kilometre walks from your car? Do you enjoy madly wiping your face like one of the crazed Three Stooges every time you walk through a spider web? Love to limbo dance under fallen trees on the path?
Then this place is for you!
The waterfalls make it all worth it.
And no one else is around
Not a single modern day sound.
Keppel Falls. Marysville.

Yesterday I had fun heading down the coast to the 12 Apostles.
A pleasant trip.....even though the sunset was not what was dreamt of, it was still a day to remember.

50mm Prime & Boo
Today, when Boo wasn't using my bed as a tramampoline (yes, we call it a trampampoline!) I decided to have a play with the 50mm Prime lens.
In between jumping around, Cat in the Hat book (tablet version) and eating a bowl of Honey Smacks cereal, I managed to take a few shots.
Processed using Nik Colour Efex 4.
Soooo many possibilities!
Soooo many options!

Whilst walking around the city the other day, I found this. There was no plaque or description to be found. But I'm sure, I'm positive, it is a memorial dedicated to the input by the Government to the early days of the Australian car industry.

Next to a small memorial were dozens of tiny crosses to remember locals that have fallen in wartime.
Lest we forget.

Well, that was an interesting Friday... Part 2
A few days ago I posted a small album with photo's of some firetwirling. Inspired by +Shari Mattox and her B&W processing of a few of her shots, I decided to "give it a go".
This would be my favourite. By taking the colour/heat out of the event, it seems to highlight just the actual spinning rather than the flying embers. And of course the greatest city in the world.. Melbourne!

Well, that was an interesting evening.
Friday evening was spent joining a few of the Melbourne Photowalk Group regulars for a cold beverage or two at Young & Jackson pub in the heart of Melbourne. (Little known fact:opening the second floor windows so you can lean out, point and laugh/yell at people IS frowned upon by staff!) We then walked towards the Chinatown district for a dumplings dinner. (Little know fact:council workers pushing those sidewalk sweepers like stopping to chat and WILL let you go mad and toot the machine's horn at people) We then went back across town to a park that looks back on parts of the skyline and did some more firetwirling. (Little know fact:big blobs of those sparks landing on the back of your neck do NOT tickle)

".....the hopes for my football team this year."
Three games in to the season... THREE! Massive loses on the scoreboard, resignations, media scrutiny and player performance. It's going to be a long and painful year.
Fade brought so many ideas to mind. Time, effort and ability were slightly against me this week. So I do hope you like my take on the theme.
Even having said all that.... Go Demons!!!

"Flower Power....now the world has hayfever"
In my lifetime I have seen the world go from Flower Power to Tea Party power. From Peace, Love & Acceptance to Anger because of a President's skin colour or a Prime Minister's red hair colour. From Woodstock to Wood-$-tock. I've seen the the World sit huddled around a flickering TV to watch a man walk on the Moon and now we watch Famewhores and Douchebags with their own shows.
Flower Power may be a distant memory...now it would be a welcomed change.

A busy morning/day ahead....but I do have time to post one photo from yesterday's get together.
A little bit of fire twirling goodness ended a great day.
I even had a turn or two getting sparks to fly.
Here is +Paul Pavlinovich opening a portal to hell!
