Day33 Off to faraway land  33日目 遠くの大地への旅立ち
Finally last night I "progressed" to Tuscany after 580 km drive from Cannes.  I arrived  after midnight, the night shift reception at my hotel is so nice, he remembers me and saved me the same room as the one I stayed in last year. By 4.30 am, I got up to take sunrise pictures...but I was still so sleepy and was not sure what I was taking...then I saw this hot air balloon from far away, it looks so pretty in the morning light.  As a little girl, I often dreamed of being carried away to far away places on a beautiful balloon, now I wonder, where is this balloon taking off to? perhaps to a land only could be known by the heart...

Day 18　The most beautiful day　18日目、最も美しい一日
I woke up on day 18 and looked out of my window, it was sunny outside with bright blue sky.  I got dressed and went out to explore the town, thinking that I would make my way to the gallery to see if the lady would have Nikos' number for me. My hotel was very close to the main street, I walked along the water front and sat down in a cafe with big comfortable chairs to have my Greek Frappe (coffee) and breakfast. The waitress brought me a big plate of 2 waffles with chocolate, Banana, and cream on it. " It's all for me!" Bigger than 2 portions in Japan!! hehe, my day is off to a good start!
The water is so clear, I could see fishes swimming and so many sea urchins! hehe, perhaps I should go and catch some...mustbe really yummy! I remember the time I was snorkelling in Saint Vincent... more »

I went back down to the gallery at the corner, a lady smile at me from inside, “ Good Evening” she said, she has a collection of different art works: paintings, ceramics, sculptures, rugs..but I could not find something that reminds me of Nikos’ work.  “ Could you help me please, “ I asked, “  I am looking for an old friend, a ceramics artist from this island.  The lady at the ceramics store in the old market told me that you may know him. Day 17, From Santorini to Naxos サントリーニ島からナクソス島へ
On Day 17, I said farewell to Santorini and traveled on to Naxos.  Naxos is  the biggest island in the Cyclades group but unlike Santorini, it has much less tourists.  Before I came to Greece, I was debating if I should stop by Naxos, Naxos has no beautiful cliff dwellings like Snatorini or windmills like Mykonos.  It is not an impressive island for photography or a great place for shopping..but I wanted to visit Naxos for another reason, to look for a friend...a ceramics artist  I met many years ago.

I met him during my one year backpack trip around the world...I had came to Naxos right before Christmas but found most hotels closed for the season. I stood in the center of the town reading my Lonely Planet,hoping I could find some places to stay.  it was getting dark, I started to worry... more »

I am now in Mykonos, the weather is not so good today.. I saw the big pink pelican, this one is not as big as the one I saw many years ago...but still so cute! I have no time to edit my pics here so just upload a photo of France.

I have been in Greece for over a week now but have not been updating my post much, the last 2 posts I wrote while traveling on the ferries.  Everyday after taking sunset pictures, it's almost 10 pm, and by the time I got back to my hotel, I am so tired.....so just a quick post of beautiful Santorini..

Day 4 white horses and peacocks-part 2 ４日目　白馬と孔雀  パート2
I stopped the car and rushed out to take their photo, but peacocks are like shy girls. they  flew away as I approached. “ They are free and fly anywhere as they wish.” A man spoke in french behind me, I turned around and found an old man smiling at me. “Bonjour” I smiled back at him, he continued to talk to me in French, but my French is not good enough to comprehend what he wanted to tell me, “ can you speak English?” I asked him in French, he could not so we continued to carry on our very limited conversation in French.. he seems to be a very nice old man, we spoke for a while and I said goodbye to him and continued my exploration of the area.  The road away from the village seem to lead only to the woods,after driving around a bit, I decided to turn back.  I saw the same old man on a pick... more »

When I woke up on day 4, it was raining..it seems that my luck was not too good with the weather on this trip...oh, well, must make the best of it...hehe, this is my attitude in life, I must try to make the best of whatever given to me.
I set out to explore the small villages close by aimlessly, even it was raining, I could still look for a good location so I could return when the weather is better.  From afar, I saw a  big old farm house with a field of wild flowers in front, on there, a few white horses were eating their "lunch", it was so peaceful and beautiful! Day 3 Fields of Dreams ３日目　夢の草原
I have not update for many days and now I am writing on the flight from Paris to  Heraklion,  Crete.  While in France, I stayed out till almost 10-11 pm taking photo almost everyday because the day light hours are so long for this season, by the time I got back to my hotel, it was almost midnight.  First I have to copy the photos I took into 2 hard disks, then I made myself a salad or open a can to eat...no time to eat dinner.  For 10 days I was in France, I have never eaten dinner out even once..hehe, my food bill must be really low! After my meal, I must plan what to do the next day, look at the map and research a bit into the area.  But often, I just drive randomly searching for my fields of Dreams..Day 3 was a good example, all I did was lookat the map and go from one small village to the next.  I love the cou... more »

Day 2 Accident part 2 ２日目　アクシデント　パート2
After the car dropped into the rapeseed blossoms field, I realised that there's no way I could get it out myself, time to call for help.  I took out the rental car papers to  look for  emergency road service number, but where am I? How do I tell them where to go!? Somehow I don't have faith in navichan's ability to tell the exact GPS location..I saw a car coming from afar,  I rushed out from my car and stopped the driver, with my very limited French, I asked him for help..Please explain to the rental car people where I am..hehe, I have no idea !! After a few calls, he told me to confirm with the rental car company and that road service would be here in 45 mins.  Was it ok for him to leave? Day 2 Accident part 1 ２日目　アクシデント　パート１
On Day 2, I woke up at 4.30 am to go to the chateau for sunrise photo. It was so beautiful there in early morning with mist over water, a big white swam was swimming around with rays of lights shinning over its feathers.  I almost felt as if I were being transported to another world, a world of fairies and unicorns..Chantilly is perhaps not of this world...it is a place where the little girl within me long for,  where dreams met with reality...

I love animals and white swam is among my favourite birds. It fills my heart with joy to see them each time. I spent the whole morning in the chateau taking photos and chasing after white swam, they are so big and come so close to me, hehe, almost as big as my dog! I want to petthem and play with them and imagine I am a princess within my own fairy tale, ... more »

Day 1 Tokyo to Paris 一日目　東京からパリへ
The day before my trip. I stayed up till very late packing as usual, this is a very bad habit of mine, somehow, I always cannot finish packing till the last minute.  The first thing I must pack is my camera equipment, I must make sure I have everything for in some areas, I could not find a camera store easily. Then it's my cloths, how to carry the minimum cloths for both hot and cold weather.  I learned my lesson in my trip last Spring, it could get very cold and I could not find any thick jacket to buy even inside Paris..This time, I carry my uniqlo light down jacket, hehe, our Japanese magic, super light and warm..( oh, and cheap too).  I must also coordinate the colors,  to make it simple, I always try to bring cloths of the same colorstones...I tell myself, the least I carry, the more I could buy..:),a che... more »

Since I came to France, I have been so busy and already had my first " accident", and too tired to look through all the pics I took, so I would just upload another Fuji photo I took right before I left Japan...miss you ....

Though I have been very busy, I still found time to go to Fuji. Luckily, it was a nice and clear day, I  only wish I have more time to spend there for I never get tired of looking at Fuji...it's my favorite mountain to admire from afar..

Today is Mother's Day, I could not go to see my mother because she is far away. I know my mother loves purple, so I am posting a purple tree just for her...though she would not see this post, but I still want to thank her for all she did for me, how she taught me to sing and draw, ( though I could not sing well..), how she opened the door to the world of books for me, how she taught me to be respectful to all people regardless of their backgrounds, how she taught me to be independent and stand up for myself, and how she taught me to live a life without regrets. Fuji for all seasons（日本語↓)富士山の四季
I took this photo a few weeks ago, the weather was very good in Tokyo, but by the time I got to Miura Peninsula, I could not see Fuji at all, it was all under the haze.  I was a bit disappointed though  I knew even I have came all the way from Tokyo spending over 2 hours, the chance I could see Fuji is rather slim. I walked over to the other side of the shore and started taking photos of the sea and the rocks...the ocean is for me a never ending fantasy........Just when the sun was setting, Fuji appeared in the far horizon, I wanted to run over to the other side of the beach but it would be too late, so I set my tripod and took pictures behind the rocks to capture this magical moment, then I saw a flight of birds flew by, I quickly changed my shutter speed and took this photo.  After all, my trip was not wasted, I was so happy.  This is anotherlesson life continued to ... more »

Lately, I have been so busy, 24 hours a day is not enough..time seems to pass by so fast..and it's mid May already..I remember when I was a child, I kept counting the days till summer vacation, 60 days was such a long time. Is it because as we grow older, our perception of time changes? or is it just me, who always wish time would stand still....How I wish I could freeze the most beautiful moment in time and hold it in my hands till eternity..maybe, this is why I love photography...

Today is the compensation holiday for Children's Day  (May 5) in Japan and the end of Golden week, I am sharing a photo of Carp-shaped Koinobori which is traditionally hang in celebration of Children's Day  ( carp because of the Chinese legend that a carp that swims upstream becomes a dragon, and the way the flags blow in the wind looks like they are swimming), hehe, see here I got his big head ...

In celebration of of my Midori's day (hehe) , I am sharing my favorite Midori (Green) picture of my favorite"Midori" spot in Japan...Oirase.  I have been to Oirase a few times and every time I amazed by its beauty.  Though it is situated in northern Japan, I feel like I am visiting a tropical rain forest surrounded by  waterfalls, streams,  trees, ferns and green moses...If I have to choose the most beautiful places I have been to, Oiresa would be one for sure..and it is  "midori" place ＼(＾▽＾)／!!

What is your first impression of London? Parliament? Tower of London? The Queen?  Double decker buses? Tower bridge? British Museum and BBC?  Oh, must not forget Peter Pen and Mary Poppins..how nice it is to imagine flying over the sky of London to a land of eternal childhood or to have a nanny like Mary.  Perhaps, London  is more than just a city, it is a land where imaginary journeys starts, a place where dreams meet reality, where one one can always return to a childhood long lost.

Since I was a small child, I have very strong liking and disliking of people and things, my parents can never talk me into doing some things I don't want to do or make me like or dislike someone....I was a stubborn child and very determined in having my own way.  I like real people, honest, sincere, hard working people.  My mother taught me to respect all people, no matter how educated they are or what social spectrum they are from.  She never taught me to dislike anyone, but I dislike fake , phony people or what I considered as opportunist.

Since I was a small girl, I dislike weakness in myself or in others.  When I fell down playing games, I wanted to climb up immediately, when other kids picked on me or made fun of me, I told myself I don't care at all, I only think they are foolish! A tale of two cities Tokyo-Yokohama  二つの都市の物語　東京−横浜
I remember when I was small, every time when I sat in my father's car as he drove through the city at night, I would stare at all the city's lights and wondered who live there and what stories there are behind each window.  Perhaps, I like to think too much as a child, therefore I love to read philosophy books rather than fictions at a young age, always wondering  the meaning of our existence in this world, something I have spent years searching for but not knowing the answer is always within me.

When I was growing up in New York, my father loved to go to Washington DC every year to view  the sakura and in the Autumn, he would drive to New England to see the changing colors of the leaves. As a child, I had little interest in hanami or red leaves, I thought it was more cool to hang out with my friends than spend the weekend with Daddy..It was only after I grew up and began to take photos that I started to appreciate the change of season. Now every spring I could not wait till the sakura blooms and every Autumn, I want to do nothing but to take photo of the beautiful red and yellow leaves.  Do we change because we grow older or do we change because of difficult  experiences in life? I do not know...I only wish I knew then what I know now, that the most beautiful things in life are the simplest things..

Sometimes I think it is so amazing, we live in a world full of choices, it is up to us to make the decision how we would like to live our lives.  When we are unhappy, the first question we should ask is what we could do to change the situation, to make ourselves happier.  Of course, there are people and things we could not change, but one thing we could always change is ourselves, how we see the world and interact with others..and that could make a hugh difference in our lives.

I guess now the sakura is blooming in Fukushima again, this morning I saw in the news a picture of some residents looking through a metal fence with sakura blooming on the other side to perhaps a home they could not return. Vincent van Gough wrote "I often think that the night is more alive and more richly colored than the day.  " Vincent painted all those beautiful paintings of the nights including the famous Starry Starry Night but they said he was insane! How could anyone who was so sensitive  and could create such beautiful arts be crazy? Perhaps he was not crazy, it was only the world who could not understand him...perhaps, "this world was never meant for one as beautiful as he..."
Do you sometimes feel like you could be crazy too?  or are we the only same people living in a mad mad world?
