Another stop in the tour of the New Jersey side of Delaware Water Gap area brought me to the grave of Permilia, wife of M. M. Sutton, in a small, old cemetery near the schoolhouse in Millbrook Village along Old Mine Road.  Permilia, if I read the spelling correctly from the worn headstone, died on October 24, 1865 in the 46th year of marraige.

The Millbrook Village Society works to preserve and promote the way of life in a late 19th century village through the recreation and preservation of turn-of-the-century Millbrook.

The basement of a vacant and decaying barn in the Delaware Water Gap area of New Jersey.  

Multiple beams supporting the first floor had rotted through causing the floor and contents above to begin to fall through. You can see one of the holes with a metal drum hanging precariously from the floorboards above.  All of the vacant buildings have been trashed by vandals.  Portions of many have collapsed already and the ones that remain are certainly of questionable stability.  In fact, the Park Service has started removing the worst ones (2 of the other locations scouted previously were gone and cleaned up).  I'd guess they'll continue to do so due to vandalism and arson.

(All day, this was the only place I found ticks on me.  My mistake, I shouldn't have walked out into the tall grass.  Ugh...itched for the rest of the day and night.  Thankfully, none were found when Igot hom... more »

Buttermilk Falls - Walpack, NJ

One of the many waterfalls within the Delaware Water Gap.  The photo does not do the height of the falls any justice.  It looks so much shorter than it really is.

Oooohh....this is pretty good.  Chester Bennington from +Linkin Park records a track with  +Stone Temple Pilots post-Scott Weiland.  I'd heard about this on the radio but kept missing the song when it was played.  Nice sound...great energy.  I think STP would do well with Chester as a front man.

So today my pal +Jason Joseph shared a panorama of New York that was 15,000 pixels wide to demonstrate how great Google+ is in letting you upload, display and zoom into such a large image.

Well, I knew I had to one-up that, so here's a panorama of the Valletta harbor in Malta that is more than 24,000 pixels wide. How does than sound? ;)

Don't forget to zoom in using the trackpad or the scroll wheel.

My Town
San Francisco, CA. 2012.

While I waited for the fireworks to start for NYE 2012, I captured 8 landscape shots to make up this super-wide panorama of the City By The Bay.

I suggest using G+'s zoom feature in the lightbox (click on the image, then use your mouse's scroll wheel), to try and find your favorite landmark in the city.

My favorite one has to be the beacon on top of the Transamerica Building, lit up for the holidays.

Another new recording of Bully by +Shinedown.  This was recorded for the Live Room at Henson Recording Studios in Hollywood, CA.  Some of the music industry's biggest and best performances have been recorded in this room.

Revel Casino, Atlantic City, NJ

This place has so many cool angles and architectural features that make it fun to photograph.  

I really would have liked an ND filter to make this a long exposure and capture the movement of the clouds.  But...I don't  have one and had to do this in Photoshop.  Not too bad for my second attempt and limited PS skills.

Barber's Chair

I visited Eastern State Penn in July 2012 with +Aaron Segreaves and +Josh Hirner.  It's only 10 months past but I've finally had enough time to go through my photos, process, and share my favorites.

This one is the barber's chair that is a "must see, must photograph" location in the complex.  The barber was not in this cell nor even this cell block and last I read, no one is quite sure how the chair made it into this cell.

A couple hours left to sneak this in for +TuesDecay by +Ian Ference.

Another photo captured inside the steel research facility I had the chance to explore.  The fallen paint chips caught my attention and knew I had to snap something here.  Down the hallway was more peeling paint in a lab room that I'll keep for another TuesDecay.

First rule, do no harm.  Governor Corbett's plan for Pennsylvania pensions will cost more and provide lower benefits.  The PA Treasurer estimates the increased cost at $25 billion (that's B-I-L-L-I-O-N  with a B) by 2046.  This is above the current costs all while providing lower benefits in a more costly defined-contribution plan like a 401(k).  Who wins?  Wall Street.  Who loses?  Pennsylvanians.

Small album from Behind the Scenes of my Spill shot for +Chrysta Rae's Photography Scavenger Hunt.

Backdrop was a roll of vellum hung from conduit and ladders.  Lighting was a stainless steel work lamp positioned immediately behind the subject (the glass).  I used water with blue food coloring in it.

I initially wanted to capture the water spilling into the glass.  I captured it, but turned out not to be as dramatic as I wanted (I've attached one image using this technique.  This is SOOC.) and experimented a bit with my brother +Josh Hirner.  Second setup, tried a small amount of water in the glass and Josh flips it out, like the glass was knocked over and spilling.  This created much more dramatic images.  I caught a couple decent ones and wrapped up.  I really liked the water swirl in the image below but didn't like the crinkles in the vellum when it gotwet fro... more »

BTS of my Regret photo for +Chrysta Rae's Photography Scavenger Hunt March Hunt.  I shot this in 3 brackets for an HDR exposure but was not satisfied with the outcome when I tried it a couple different ways.  Just wasn't something I was happy about.

I played around a bit more and applied an HDR-like preset in LR4 while experimenting and found I really liked the look.  So I copied it to the other brackets.  I discarded the darkest bracket.  Then layered the dash and interior surfaces from the brightest bracket with the sky and road from the middle bracket.  Found a way to rid myself of some chromatic aberration in a YouTube video and ta-da!
