How to Learn Anything
"The major barrier to skill acquisition isn't intellectual... it's emotional." An excellent reminder of how easy it can be to learn a new skill. Kaufman says it only takes 20 hours.
"Josh Kaufman is the author of the #1 international bestseller, 'The Personal MBA: Master the Art of Business', as well as the upcoming book 'The First 20 Hours: Mastering the Toughest Part of Learning Anything.' Josh specializes in teaching people from all walks of life how to master practical knowledge and skills. In his talk, he shares how having his first child inspired him to approach learning in a whole new way."

In what can only be called an exodus, WordPress’ co-founder Matt Mullenweg posted on his blog Sunday night that over 72,000 new blog posts were imported within a single hour. This is a massive spike considering that #WordPress usually just sees 400 to 600 imported posts on most Sundays. It’s a tiny percentage of Tumblr’s 50.9B posts but it’s an important consideration that #Tumblr – and now Yahoo – cannot ignore. WordPress is likely going to be the largest benefactor of Tumblr’s exodus. As Mullenweg notes, the two services have long enjoyed a close relationship. It only takes a few clicks to import a Tumblr site to a WordPress install.

More than any other reason, this is why you should do two things:
1) Secure your lockscreen.
2) Turn on Instant Upload (and set it to upload over WiFi and your Data network) on your Google Account.
These two things would have avoided a good chunk of the hullabaloo here.
* The video evidence would have been automatically uploaded to the cloud.
* The phone would be locked for at least long enough for you to get home and make a copy of the original video.
* You would know if the police had conducted a potentially illegal search of your ('locked container', is the term) phone, if the video (or other data) was missing from the phone when you got it back.

I think it's time to start shopping for a new home country...I'm not fond of the character of this one anymore.
I mean, really...
Saying:
"I'm bringing this kitchen appliance to my nephew"
Then elaborating to say¹,
"Well, honestly, I'm bringing this kitchen appliance to my nephew because he bought one from Wal-Mart, and it fucking sucks, and it broke after one use - maybe because he bought it from Wal-Mart, and Wal-Mart sucks, you know, you try to tell kids these days. They never listen. I warned him, but no. So now, I'm bringing him a good one. This one, I got it from his grandmother. It's a good one. He'll hand it down to his own nephew one day."
...is a criminal offense.
What?
¹ I honestly don't know why this Saudi man being questioned in my head sounds like Aziz A... more »

Some interesting results have been published from research into the Psychology of Music this month.
Experiment One
http://m.medicalxpress.com/news/2013-05-women-men-guitar.html
Researchers from Université de Bretagne-Sud, France enlisted the assistance of a young "good looking" male volunteer. He was asked to approach 300 young women on the street, tell them he thought they were pretty and ask for their number. During 100 of the encounters he carried a guitar, another 100 times a gym bag and the other 100 times nothing at all.
Results Women gave their number to the young man 31 percent of the time when he was holding a guitar, but only 14 percent of the time when he was carrying nothing. When he was holding a gym bag, he got a number just 9 percent of the time._
