“Are we there yet?”
This is the Guatape Rock in Colombia. It’s a lovely view at the top, but with a total of 649 steps to climb we wouldn't recommend it after a heavy lunch...

Food for thought: acting outside the process, without updating the process, undermines the process.
I posted this over on twitter, but didn't raise a single response. What say you G+?
Are you a process advocate? We often encounter shortcomings in current process (remember Continuous Process Improvement?) but how are they best handled?
I have continually pushed for rapid updates to processes. Change early and change often. Adapt and keep moving. Praise innovators who come up with ways to work better and implement their ideas quickly.
My underlying thought: Bending the rules of any process undermines how all processes are viewed within the organization.

What do you DO when feeling down or blue?
Life changes, getting old has consequences ... whatever you want to call it there are times when life can get you feeling down. I know I've been there and am working on recovering.
Dig in, find reasons why, then make a recovery plan. I'm just starting on this part of the journey and am excited to see how 2013 turns around.

Seriously? Vit D deficiency, Low Testosterone, and Cardiovascular disease brewing. Yikes. I'm getting some answers and hopefully sharing this will help others refuse to just accept feeling down.
Make a plan, keeping asking questions, and get back up.

How's your 2013 starting out? I'll be honest that it started as a struggle. I've been down and lacking any form of ambition or drive. Something was wrong.
So what do you do when something's amiss? Here's what I've done to get back up and get going again. The journey and the year is just started. Let's do this!

Hello fitness bloggers. I've been slacking on G+, but I'm back digging around. This looks like a great group of like-minded fitness fanatics. Great to meet you.
I run Cube Dweller Fitness, a site that wrestles with the health and fitness issues that often come as a package deal with our life of working in an office day-in and day-out.

Feeling down or blue at the start of 2013? Well you are not alone. I've been struggling and trying to figure out what's going on since the start of the year. While everyone's situation is different there are some common patterns to help you when you are feeling down, feeling blue to get back up.

Pitfalls of ITIL Worship: Have they changed since 2005?
I'm reading an old post from Dean Meyer and ran across this quote. This is pitfall #2 that he outlined back in 2005.
Pitfall 2: Appointing a process manager with the power to dictate how others work. Some ITIL consultants have recommended appointing someone the "owner" of each process and giving them the authority to dictate the way others work. This violates one of the most fundamental principles of organizational design, the basic principle of empowerment: It separates authority and accountability.

Learning from Adventure Races
Okay, so call me nuts. I honestly, truthfully, whole-heartedly wanted to run in the World's Toughest Mudder. Our team qualified by running the Tough Mudder at Beaver Creek, CO. But time and money got in the way and I was unable to run.
But that epic event made me rethink all that I learned while running the Tough Mudder. Here's the post of the 11 lessons on overcoming obstacles.
Have you run an Adventure Race? Which one? What was your biggest lesson learned?

Day Before Thanksgiving - Day 21 of No Shave November
Will you ask them? Will you have the guts to ask others, Dude, what's on your face?
Do it. Either you'll get to high-five another supporter of prostate cancer awareness month, or you'll get an odd-stare and a chance to explain it to them. The reason won't really matter, but the outcome will be more people talking about prostate cancer awareness month.
So get out there, toss a razor, save a man. And start asking, Dude, What's on your face?

Help with Google Experiments - 403 from Preview
Okay any hints for me. I've been setting up google Experiments but the preview is failing with a 403 error. When I click on the link form the error page the link loads perfectly in a new tab. Be a man and be there for your kids - #NoShaveNovember Day 11
I've got two kids and both are off in college. The time with them is priceless to me. So that's the topic of Day 11. Prostate Cancer awareness is about celebrating our manhood and the issues that come with it. Well part of that is being a man for our kids as well.
Today the plan was to go snowboarding. But winter storm Brutus cancelled those plans and instead gave us a chance to revisit college algebra to help our my daughter. I loved it - not really, but I love her. This was a chance to be there for her and spend the day with her.
Be a man - love your kids.

Exposure Control for the iSight Camera - FINALLY
I've been playing with the new lights in my video studio (fancy, right?) but the exposure is very touchy. I'm just using the iSight camera on my MacBook Pro. But tonight I found something cool - CameraControl.
Check out this video. I found I had to find the setting, then start PhotoBooth to record, and update the setting again. It's a pain, but it worked.
