Grand Prix of Canada in Montreal ...
My pre-race take on the tyre issue, the proposed Bangkok GP, how Sauber is faring and the race track on  Île Notre-Dame.

It's race weekend again! Let's hang out! Here is how it works:

➢ We all watch the race on our own individual TV sets. There is not going to be a race broadcast in the hangout for several reasons.
▸ A broadcast would take over the hangouts audio and would make it impossible for us to talk.
▸ It means, we can all watch the race in the language we prefer (in my case it's German).
▸ The broadcast would take up a hangout spot. I'd rather have one of you guys there.
▸ Since it's a HoA (Hangout on Air) we'd have copyright issues.

(Updated version) I've posted this already quite some time ago, but things have changed in between and since I'm re-writing all my "How I ..." posts for all those new followers I'm recently getting (more than 150.000 now!) I thought I'll give this one some love too. I've discarded some of the extensions I use (not many) and have added some new ones.

☛ Nothing is so good, it cannot be made better ...
That is true even for our beloved #GooglePlus . The Googlers are tirelessly working to improve the platform and a great job they are doing too, but even Google+ can be made better. That is were the #Extension developers come in.

Google+ changed the way I think about myself ...
There is no other social platform that seems to have as profound an effect on its users as G+ seems to have. It certainly changed my life around.

If you look around you'll find all kinds of posts about the influences and effects Google and its social network has on people. Have you ever seen a post like that on the other large social network ? I haven't. No other platform seems to make people think about the world in general and themselves in particular as much as #GooglePlus  does. In my case it becomes clear in one aspect in particular.

When I was a three year old boy I had a pretty bad accident. I was run over by a bus! No joke! A real big coach, just like one of them Greyhound  thingies in the U.S. My leg bore the worst injuries and though they don't inhibit me in any way, they are quite ugly to look at.T... more »

The race to the races ...
The F1 is easily the biggest circus in the world, but just like it's smaller cousins it leads an almost nomadic life style. How can you move something that large around the globe for 9 months and always be on time?

When I was a boy I always got really excited when a circus came into town. I always went to our fair ground where they set up the tent and watched the process. The seamless coordination of placing the caravan village, setting up tents and corrals for the animals (yes, there were still animals at the circus in those days) and erecting the huge circus tent was almost as wondrous to me as the actual show. It's the same for me with the #Formula1 .

Tag people in a photograph while writing a post ...
Another #GPlusQuickTip . We all know (don't we?), that we can tag people in our pics at #GooglePlus . But did you know, that you can do that in the post editor window?

Open the post editor and add an image from your computer or your albums. Click anywhere on that picture. If #Google  recognises the spot you clicked on as a face, the tag circle will appear, with the little window that lets you enter a name.

I noticed, that sometimes you might have to double click and if Google doesn't think, that what you clicked on is a face it might not work at all. This only works with single images, not if you add several images at once.

Nifty if you forgot to tag people during the uploading process, isn't it? Please share! for all Goobies (G+ newbies) and old hands alike.

The F1 on the road ...
Or on a plane, for that matter. Those cars have to get to the tracks somehow.

I'm a trucker, and I'm a #Formula1  buff. Therefore one of the aspects of #F1  that interests me most is the #transport  of equipment to the tracks. That's quite a logistical challenge. As always the +Sauber F1 Team helps out with some information on the subject.

Every team chooses their own truck manufacturer to get their equipment to the race tracks. In Sauber's case it's Renault (see image). The French car and truck company has just delivered the new fleet of #RenaultMagnum  and #RenaultPremiumRoute  trucks to the Sauber  headquarters in #Hinwil /Switzerland (http://bit.ly/16mInAg - website in German). Related Hashtags at Google+ ...
Time for another #GPlusQuicktip . A few things you should know about #RelatedHashtags .

Since the last update Google analyses each and every one of your posts and attaches so-called Related Hashtags. According to +Vic Gundotra these are supposed to give the stream at #GooglePlus  depth. People who read your posts are now able to find related posts quickly by clicking on those hashtags, which show up at the top right of each post. Great idea! In theory!

There are two things you should know, to work with that system properly. The first is, that you don't have to leave it up to #Google  to decide which hashtags show up for your posts. Just use your own. The first three you use in your post will show up as Related Hashtags. On this post you'll see the hashtag #GPlusQuicktip  at the very top right. ★ How I use the Google+ Notification System ... ★
It is with the notifications here at G+ as it is with salt. One should only hand them out, when asked for it! 

It seems to me like the amount of post #notifications I receive is increasing significantly. That could be a good thing, if they were for posts that interest me, but quite often they are not. I even receive notifications of posts, that aren't in any of the languages I speak. Some of the notifications are blatant spam (the authors of those get blocked and reported without warning), but most are just written by people who don't know how to use the system yet. Even experienced plussers sometimes get it wrong. In that case I want to tell you, no harm done! This post is for you.
