Brunner Nathan1,086The photographers here are all in my personal circles.  The choices are mine and mine alone.  No one asked, begged, or pleaded to belong.  No bribes were offered or accepted.  These are the people that I follow because I appreciate their great quality photography and their interaction.  Most I have met as I help curate several of the photography themes.  There are NO requirements to share this circle.  I would appreciate the people in this circle plus the post, leave a comment, and share the circle as public.  Each profile has been verified by me.  Most have < 10,000 followers (when they were put into the circle).  They each have high quality original photography content.  You won’t find many animated gifs!  I have included myself in the circle and also the landscape page.  Some are new to G+ so please make them feel welcome!!Landscape Photography:  I invite everyone to check out the +Landscape Photography  #LandsacapePhotography theme.  If you want to impress me, that’s the place to do it!!  Post a great landscape that will get my attention.  See the About tab for all the details.I wasn’t included, what do I do?  If you meet the criteria, weren’t included, but think you should be, then leave me a comment.  Maybe I don’t know about you.  There are millions of people on G+ and I don’t know everyone.  However, I’ll be happy to have a look at your work if you will call it to my attention.  Start posting landscapes that get my attention (see above)!!There’s a really great photographerr that you didn’t include.  Please feel free to recommend qualified people.  I discover new people every day and would be happy to look at their work.  Please make sure that the recommended person meets the criteria.  If they don’t then that tells me a lot about you!#Circleshare   #Sharedcircles2012-12-24 08:19:0850022323CC G+

Peter Fraterdeus867For your Google+ enjoyment ;-) This circle has people who post about art.I haven't seen all of the posts, or know the people, but they've been curated into the original circle by the person who initially shared the circle. It's a good way to get something of value into your home 'stream'. If you want to follow a particular person, you can add them to your own circles. You can always remove this circle, or edit how much of the content from that circle shows up in your stream...2012-09-17 11:53:54216807CC G+

Many of the people in this circle are among the most interactive people on G+. I often talk about what it means to me to curate a theme and how I view things. To me, the best themes are the ones that have highly interactive curators. The vast majority also have a page to compliment their theme. A theme page is a great place for the curators to share information about the theme and to list the name or names of the people currently curating the theme. IMHO, a good theme page should provide information about the theme, how to participate, and who is curating the theme.  Most theme pages share some of the best work.  A few share all submissions. There are many themes that were created and then abandoned by their creator so I wanted to know, "Which themes rock?". I asked the G+ community to tell me which themes have highly interactive curators and an active community. This circle is based on community feedback and my personal view of what it means to have a theme that rocks.  ────────A good place to start if you are new to themes is perhaps the about page of +Monochrome Monday or the about page of +Daily Photography Themes +Daily Fine Art Themes.  If there are any themes that you feel rock that aren't mentioned, be sure to add a comment to this post, include the name of the theme, what day of the week the theme takes place or daily, the name of the page, and the name of the curators.  If there is no page, please state this.  Themes without a page are less likely to be listed but some very interactive themes don't have a page. Because of2012-08-29 13:45:173048995110CC G+

Billy Wilson417,065Virtual Travelers CircleThis circle was created of those who have an interest in exploring the world using Google Maps/Earth/Hangouts/Street View from the comfort of their own home. I made this circle based on nominations, people claiming they had an interest, those who were part of +Artistic Google, and those who are part of +Virtual Photo Walks™. I hope this circle helps strengthen and grow a community around this interest, so please consider sharing this post with your friends. You can add these people to your circles by clicking "View Shared Circle". +Artistic Google is a theme on G+ where people find spots in Google Street View and capture them and edit them. +Virtual Photo Walks™ is something started by +John Butterill and +Bruce Garber that uses Google+ hangouts to bring people to locations around the world they normally wouldn't be able to get to.  #CircleShare   #GoogleStreetView   #Google  2012-08-23 19:00:38102212937CC G+

Jeff Sullivan131,363Daily Photography Themes on G+: Curators Circle v1.0Daily photo themes can be a great way to share your best work, or to find creative work by others for enjoyment and inspiration.Lists of the daily themes, with notes on any participation details, are maintained by the following people:+Eric Leslie - http://ericleslie.com/guides/daily-photography-themes-googleplus/+Kol Tregaskes - http://bit.ly/kolgplusphotodailyhashtags+Ray Bilcliff - http://www.trueportraits.com/daily-photo-themes.htmJust Include the theme like today's #SelflessSunday in the text of your post, and others can find it in searches and you can enter that tag in the search box at the top of the page to find photos by other contributors.  However, that only works if many people using a theme are looking at (and commenting on) each others' posts.  On G+, like in so many areas in life, you get what you give.I've created two circles: one containing theme pages and this one containing theme curators.  Theme curators are among the most active photographers (or photography lovers) on G+, but if they're actively curating their theme, visiting most or all posts and interacting with many (comments, +1s, shares), they're also among the busiest, especially as the G+ community grows.  Keep your expectations of them reasonable and you won't be disappointed.  The golden rule, karma, "what goes around comes around"... take responsibility and be the interaction you want to see.  As people come to recognize your comments and posts, you'll get to know people and develop circles of community members to interact with on G+.This is intended to be a comprehensive, inclusive circle, so if I've missed a theme curator please let me know, thanks!2012-07-08 15:27:4433222730CC G+
Michael Benton0Great Starter Circle Full of Positive People - UPDATED....so add it again if you want! This idea originally came from +Rinus Bakker who has put together lots of amazing circles for our community! So, you are new to Google+ and don't know where to start? How about adding this great group of positive people?I shared this a couple of days ago but for some reason there have been issues for some getting everyone to add so here it is again....if you saved this once you can try adding it again to get everyone!Google+ Old Timer maybe....this will freshen things up for you.Don't fill your stream with trash...add this circle and you will see great art, great thoughts and all around positivity (is that a word?). It will inspire you to do great things and help to block out the bad things that we are flooded with every day!Give it a try and please pass it along....2012-06-17 23:06:37427382224CC G+

Peter From36,228The CAPTURE THE NATURE Circle –– Validated First Version #CircleSharingForThePeopleCNCVF The time has come to reshare my validated first revision of the Capture The Nature Circle (CNC) with 463 excellent artists that produce great nature photography. You don't want to miss this one. I am proud to promote these great people and I am sure they will bring lots and lots of great and interesting images to your feeds. If YOU want to hop on the next CNC train, do the following:1. Help spread the word and reshare this circle post. Why? If you think you should be promoted, you should be willing to do the same for your fellow artists. Simple as that.2. Ask for inclusion in the comments. I will check every feed.3. Make sure that you share your own original nature photography in your feed. If there are too many reshares of other peoples' work, irrelevant YouTube clips, animated GIFS, blog post teasers etc., I might not add you to the circle. The CNC is a validated quality circle that should bring people great nature imagery to their feeds.NOTE! If you see that I have plussed your comment, then you know that I have added you to the next revision of the CNC. I didn't PLUS your comment? Make sure that you have reshared this circle post and let me know that you did so.HOW TO AVOID FLOODING OF THIS POST IN YOUR FEED:This post is hash-tagged with #CircleSharingForThePeopleCNCVF so that you may mute the reshares this post will generate. That way you will avoid seeing multiple copies of this post in your feed and your adrenaline level will stay normal. I will add a new hash-tag for every announcement and circle post. That way you won't miss out on any of the action but still can mute all the duplicate reshares. Here is an excellent add-on that will help you to mute the reshares: http://code.google.com/p/nonplus/Cheers!2012-05-28 11:01:11463125156134CC G+

I often talk about what it means to me to curate a theme and how I view things. To me, the best themes are the ones that have highly interactive curators and a theme page. To me, a theme page says the curator cares about the theme and about the community. A good theme page should provide information about the theme, how to participate, and who is curating the theme. There are many themes that were created and then abandoned by their creator so I wanted to know, "Which themes rock?". So, I asked the G+ community to tell me which themes have pages and highly interactive curators. This circle is based on community feedback and my personal view of what it means to have a theme that rocks.A good place to start if you are new to themes is perhaps the about page of +Monochrome Monday or the about page of +Daily Fine Art Themes. This circle will become part of an ongoing series and guide to G+ themes; Charles Lupica's guide to themes on G+™.Let's rock.Sunday• Dawn on Sunday  #dawnonsunday +Dawn On Sunday +Ray Bilcliff +Sherry McBriar• Sacred Sunday  #sacredsunday +SacredSunday™ +Manfred Berndtgen +Robyn Morrison +Margaret Tompkins +Sherrie von Sternberg +Charles Lupica• Sentimental Sunday  #sentimentalsunday +Sentimental Sunday Theme +Louisa Catharine Forsyth• SOOC Sunday (Straight out of the cam2012-04-23 13:20:35198190161201CC G+

So even if you don't add this circle, since Google+ requires users to circle a Page before that Page can share their posts, please be sure to add the Page so that we can include your image if/when we select it. Images that have more than a certain number of pluses (To be determined) will be added to the gallery almost without question. The curators of the theme will also pick images to add regardless of the number of pluses. This way, everyone will have a chance of being shown in the "gallery". The gallery shares will generally take place on Thursday or Friday.Hopefully the circle includes everyone that contributed to Monochrome Monday this week, but experience says we missed some. Everyone is important to the success of the theme and we apologize if we missed you.+Charles Lupica +Hans Berendsen +Jerry Johnson +Monochrome Monday and our newest curator +Manuel Votta would like to thank you for joining us this week. See you next week!!If we missed you we're sorry. Please let us know in the comments and I will try to make sure that you are included next week.Note: We want to be up front and transparent as your curators. Many of the people in this circle received a "notification" that we added them to our circles. This is a temporary circle that we have to create based on the tools available to us on this platform to build our circles, and please know that we can't keep everyone in the long term. We will keep people that have circled us as long as we can, but we may need to eventually drop some of the people that added us. #circleshare #sharedcircles +Best Shared Circle ◊◊◊◊2012-04-18 18:00:13468421038CC G+

What did I see and what did the Canary Islands mean to you? I saw many sun-kissed tourists roaming the roads and boarding buses to more roads and more buses. Colorful buildings, seacapes, lighthouses, windmills, Santa, and even a police arrest. After Paris, it seemed to be the perfect destination to relax and enjoy the virtual sun. But yesterday showed that there must be a lot lighthouse photographers out here on G+. And many took the time to pick an image for the theme. Thanks for all your enthusiasm in sharing your great work and all the interesting stories.I counted genuine posts of 97 people. That is quite a number for a daily theme premiere. For those of you who are interested in the works of the contributors I set up a #LighthouseThursday circle. I tried really hard to find all images and all contributors. In case I missed you, drop me a comment or email and I'll add you to the circle. So thanks to all of you for bringing this theme to life.I'm looking forward for the next #LighthouseThursday in two weeks.Hope to see you all .... and hopefully some more then.HeikoHeiko Köster hat einen Kreis mit Ihnen geteilt.2011-10-21 21:21:4397607CC G+

This Week's Theme :: England

Not Anne Hathaway's Cottage

We are touring England this week... while I have been to Anne Hathaway's thatched-roof cottage on the outskirts of Stratford-Upon-Avon, the Google Street View car doesn't go there (yet). So this one on Cottage Lane had to play the role of "understudy."

Update to my original post With help from +Jamal Masood , I've further researched and Google Maps has misplaced Anne's cottage on the map. This apparently is her cottage. Or at least that is what the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust tells us...

This is not my image. It is a screen capture from Google Maps Street View. Processed in Photoshop with NIK Viveza2 and Topaz Labs Simplify and Adjust 5.

This Week's Theme :: Where in the World

The Google Street View car/camera stopped in the middle of Highway 391 as it transverses Manitoba, Canada. It's the northernmost road in the province. Makes you wonder if this is where they ran out of gas...

Inspired by +Dana Payton 's travels on the Dempster Hwy in the Northwest Territories...

Empire State Building and New York City in the Blue Hour

Saturday was a work day for me. Had to head into NYC to run a photo shoot with the fashion photographer that I work with on the magazine. His studio is located on the 12th floor. During the golden hour, I climbed the scary 12 stairs on the outside of the building to the roof to check out the view (lots of water towers). To the north was the Empire State Building. To the south I could see the Freedom Towers under construction. Bald blue sky. Was hoping for a fabulous sunset.

+Ken Brown (assistant to the fashion photographer) had his Canon G10 and stayed to lock up after me. We decided to return to the studio and try to shoot out the plate glass windows that faced north. This shot with the D800 was hand held, ISO 2500, f4, 1/6 sec. Lens was the 28-300 Nikkor at 35mm. A little Topaz Adjust 5 Spicify preset, blended witht... more »

Lower Manhattan, New York

Shortly before this shot, the park police chased the group from +Unique Photo, Inc. from our spot in Brooklyn Bridge Park (DUMBO district). Apparently the flooding overway the walkway from Hurricane Sandy corroded all the electric lines running to the spotlights. They did not feel the area was safe without the extra lights. So the group moved to another pier... too bad the East River Ferry pier is in the shot.

This is the last light of the sunset. D800, 28-300mm Nikkor; 30 sec exposure. SOOC except for slight crop in PS.

Saturday was a rare day in January in my part of the world. Temperatures were almost 50 degrees -- balmy by January standards. Sawmill Lake, High Point State Park, New Jersey
Spent the morning with a former state park ranger who also happens to be a commercial photographer that I've worked with for over 6 years in my job. Wes knows this park well, as he was stationed here for over 10 years. He was a super tour guide. We found the coolest spiders, a bald eagle flying over this lake, and farther on we watched a black bear and her cub... And the foliage is only about 25% in glorious color. The cloud cover came in quickly and by 11am, it was pretty socked in. Best part is now I have a long list of places to revisit and the park in less than 30 minutes from my house. Sweet!

Ocean City, New Jersey; 59th Street Pier

I've been busy with my D800 ... last weekend I headed to the NJ shore for a couple days. My intention was to practice long exposures. I captured both JPG and RAW files, but set the JPGs to Black & White with a red filter. So I never saw color until the day was over when I looked at the RAW files. It was a great exercise to study the B&W image on the back monitor and read the histogram. This is the last shot of the day looking east, close to sunset... More t/k

Was out practicing long exposures last weekend and realized the color has started here in northwest NJ ...

Looking forward to the cool weather and crisp mornings.

Yes, It's Really New Jersey

My favorite place to take "out of towners" to shake their perspective that New Jersey is more than interstates, tank farms, and Jersey Shore is atop Sunrise Mountain, which is in Stokes State Forest.

The elevation is a touch over 1600 ft above sea level... here, the sun is setting over Pennsylvania.

I am amazed at the tonal range of the D800... brought this into NIK's Viveza for brightness, contrast, and a touch of structure then back to PS for crop.

+Jan McCartney asked me how the testing was going with my new D800. Well, it's a learning curve! Not very forgiving. As Jim Brandenburg said, it's a camera that will expose all your flaws as a photographer.

Hoshi is a willing subject (most times). Made with the Nikkor 105mm macro; available light (window on right). Even though the histogram looked fine on the back of the camera, had to drop the exposure by 1.5 stops in ACR. Nothing else done except convert the RAW to a JPG and resize for G+.

Pike Place Fish Market, Seattle WA

This particular stall at the Pike Place Farmer's Market is the one everyone sees on TV especially when the guys start throwing whole fish around. I remember a fun Monday Night Football segment when they were in Seattle and they took the wide receivers down to see how good they were at catching fish. Not very good but it was fun to watch. I didn't spot any fish being tossed about that day...

Shout out to +Armand Salmon, who is very good at street photography. Check him out.

Hidden House in Hilo

I was about to cross a low bridge over water when I turned to the side and saw this house tucked in the lush palms... While touring around the big island of Hawaii (looking for lighthouses), I came into Lahaina. Google Maps noted this http://goo.gl/maps/mNPE was the "Old Lahaina Luau" and sure enough the Google Street Cam was on bicycle.

This capture represents my stereotypical touristy Hawaii: the family snap shot around the outrigger on the beach in front of the setting sun, palm trees, locals selling tikis and other indigenous art, and men wearing "Hawaiian" shirts. If I were running the photo shoot, the sun would have set before I started taking pictures.

Brown Swiss Moos
With help from an AG friend, +Chris Fithall

This morning (Chris' evening as he lives on the other side of the world) I found a link from Chris in my inbox to this spot in the Swiss Alps. He knew I had spent time in Australia searching for a roo (or 2) to capture for the AG week in Oz. He found this image for me to consider processing in lieu of kangaroos. This is not exactly the camera position he sent me, so I sort of made it my own but he did all the heavy lifting. Very pleased to present this as "AG Pas de Deux" but I did get the best bits out of this collaboration. Thanks Chris!

Started with NIK's Viveza2, a touch of Topaz Adj 5 (Painting-Venice preset), back to NIK's Color Efex then a texture from Flypaper Textures to finish.

This capture is from a beach south of Black Head, NSW. I love it because when I was growing up, my best friend's Dad had a VW camper bus just like this one (minus the roo bars). He'd pile Lesli and me into it and off we'd go on day trips to enjoy picnic lunches by lakes in the state parks. And it made for a great "doll house" when parked in the driveway for us: we were all of 8 or 9 years old.

Santiago de Compostela

The Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James) is a large network of ancient pilgrim routes stretching across Europe and coming together at this cathedral in Galicia (northwest Spain). Tradition has it that the remains of Saint James are buried here.

The most popular route is the Camino Frances which stretches 780 km (nearly 500 miles) from St. Jean-Pied-du-Port near Biarritz in France to Santiago. Walking the Camino is not difficult as most of the stages are fairly flat on good paths.

We are here on Shetland Island. My father traveled here in the 1960s as part of his job: The Hunt for Red October.
