Mars rover Opportunity beats 40 year old driving distance record!

"While Apollo 17 astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt visited Earth's moon for three days in December 1972, they drove their mission's Lunar Roving Vehicle 19.3 nautical miles (22.210 statute miles or 35.744 kilometers). That was the farthest total distance for any NASA vehicle driving on a world other than Earth until yesterday.

The team operating NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity received confirmation in a transmission from Mars today that the rover drove 263 feet (80 meters) on Thursday, bringing Opportunity's total odometry since landing on Mars in January 2004 to 22.220 statute miles (35.760 kilometers)."

 It's called suspended coffee, and the movement is gaining popularity in cafes throughout Australia.

The style of this movie is VERY reminicent of Adventures of Buckeroo Banzai, a "serious" sci-fi show, wherer it could have gone easily to the side of stupid cornball but manages to stick with a "realistic" feel to the whole movie..

So, for all who are asking whether I "drew" the now-infamous "Mars penis" -- the answer is, maybe. I no longer have access to the data I'd need to answer that question definitively, but the image is from a mosaic taken around sol A-58, making me one of the two very likely candidates.

I sure as hell hope I did, though. Because that's hilarious. Needless to say, it wouldn't have been on purpose. But it's still hilarious.

(I'm not sure if this quite qualifies as 'cheap 'ol man minute project or not) but...
I mounted my Raspberry Pi directly to the back of a 19" HDTV. The TV itself is not a "smart TV" -it's just a basic model. However, it did have a single USB port on it which I believe is used as a service port (for firmware updates I guess). I'm using this USB port to power the Pi. I used a small USB to micro USB cable(a cell phone sync cable) for power, and I purchased the shortest(a 3 ft) HDMI cable I could find (I just wound the excess around the Pi circuit board).
