Here it the lightning image just captured after I photographed the setup below.... I always shoot from inside of my metal truck and have had very good luck. I have the Lightning Finder app for my Iphone/Ipad that shows strikes relative from my location which help when tracking the storm and setting up for the shot.

My lightning setup: Lightning Trigger on GH2 and now a Fuji X-E1. The Lightning Trigger is the best one on the market, it costs more but simply works. I have tested the Lightning Bug as well but got very poor results with it.

240 second exposure tonight at 5pm, still light out but subdued due to the winter storm. The waves were 12 to 15 feet and even with a long exposure you couldn't get flat water, just a white mist! Fuji X-E1 with 13 stops of ND (Lee Seven5 system with 10 stop Big Stopper and another 3 stop solid ND)

Water Drop Day. Fortified Heavy Water, 3 Canon 580 EX2's (1 with red gel) variegated earth-tone glass backdrop, Olympus OMD with 12mm extension and/or Fuji X-E1, 55mm with Canon 500D closeup filter. These were great fun and once I discovered the correct way to use the heavy water all went well! I placed these into the serious side of artsy-fartsy, so forgive the saturated colors and textures. I assure you that this is ALL in camera and done with the use of food colors and gels! There are several here and I am going to put them into a mini gallery. For more information please visit my blog at www.markhilliardatelier.wordpress.com

Just a short little (60s) exposure to stop the water motion yet still keep the nice warm lighting at the start of twilight. Pawleys Pier, Pawleys Island, SC.

The 2-fer Pier & Groin, Pawleys Island 60 second exposure tonight during Twilight

Twilights last gleaming... Last saturday night. The full moon was so bright that it made it very difficult to shoot at all due to too much light. I had to leave the ND filter on the camera. Anyways, this is just the local Pawleys Island Pier, Olympus OMD, 847 second exposure. I normally shoot with the Fuji X-E1 for this type of shot but took out the OMD to give it a try. I am glad I did! using the live Bulb mode and watching the image develop on the LCD screen every 30 seconds was like watching a Polaroid develop! If you have a OMD you should take it out and give it a serious try one night.
