For years and years I was haunted by a memory I had of a cartoon I had seen when I was very little, barely on the edge of memory. All I could remember was that it had characters in it that turned into vegetables and the artwork was pretty spare. I knew it was out there somewhere. And after years of searching I found it -- "Hoppity Hooper: The Traffic Zone" from 1964 when I was 2. It was a parody of the Twilight Zone, which was great because I became a big TZ fan a little later. I think I have found all the things from my youth that I vaguely recall, this was the final holdout.

I gave up my job at The Washington Times today to focus my efforts on writing books. I have a biography of George Custer due next year. It was a bold, Custer-ish move. And we all know how he ended up. Hmmm.....
