The full context of the quote actually doesn't help him at all.

"We will hear from the Democrat party on the plight of the poor and there's no question, it's not good being poor, and we have a safety net to help those that are very poor."

We have a safety net... that you and your party are CONSTANTLY trying to dismantle. Saying "The poor are fine because we have programs in place to help them that I'm trying to defund" is not proper policy.

on a scale of 1 to 10, I give +Newt Gingrich a 10 for being the real fighter for conservatism and republican principles.
