This was taken out at Arch Rock on Friday, 28 December. Often, night photographers lament the full moon, which blots out the stars from the night sky. I decided I'd embrace it, give it a big hug, and make it part of the photo. I light painted the arch using a powerful flashlight and a headlamp set to red. Corona Seascape

I cut my bare feet up a bit getting out to this spot at low tide to get the sun in the right spot, but of course it was totally worth it. This is little Corona Beach in Corona Del Mar, CA. If you look closely you can see a bunch of cormorants on the big rock, a sailboat in the distance with Catalina Island behind, and the Corona Del Mar Pier.

A Quiet Walk Among Giants

This is Muir Woods north of San Francisco. These are coast redwoods, which thrive in places like this that often have dense fog. They are generally taller but not as thick in diameter as the related giant sequoias.

Sun & Clouds over Tahoe

Sometimes I'm better at taking a photo than naming it. At any rate, this was a spectacular day at Lake Tahoe since a storm had just passed through and the sun broke through. I love moments like these.

For some reason I like the square crop on this better than more traditional crops. What do you think?

No Longer Home

I found this abandoned house at the edge of the forest near Tillamook, OR. The overgrowth around this house was remarkable; it would have been quite a task to get to the front door. And the rusty, cobweb-laden mailbox was a perfect complement to the rest of the scene.

Silver Falls in the Fall

After days of rain the sun emerged mixed with fog in this incredible moment that lasted mere minutes. This is South Falls at Silver Falls State Park in Oregon. As with some of the other falls in this area, you can hike behind this falls if you don't mind getting a bit wet.

This is an HDR (probably obvious) from 3 exposures merged using +Nik Software HDR Efex Pro 2 with cleanup later in Photoshop.

Fall Colors on the Columbia River Gorge

My lack of posting here on G+ over the last 2 weeks has been due to a trip to Portland and the lovely northwest, where the fall colors are starting to emerge. This is a small pond on the Washington side of the gorge, near Bridge of the Gods.

Swirling Steps into Lake Como

This beautiful lakefront walkway is in the town of Como along Lake Como in northern Italy. There are steps like this leading down into the lake at various points along the shore to allow easy access for anyone traveling by boat.

Air Force One - Reagan Library

This is inside the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, CA. This impressive room houses the first Air Force One jet that was ever used (Boeing 707), which served seven U.S Presidents from 1973 to 2001, including Presidents Nixon, Carter, Ford, Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Clinton and George W. Bush. Below that is the Marine One helicopter used during his presidency.

Duomo Florence Italy

The heart of Florence is the Duomo, seen here from Giotto's Campanile (bell tower), dominating the skyline of Florence, Italy. Requiring six centuries to complete, the massive structure is one of the most enduring symbols in all of Italy. Located in the appropriately named Piazza del Duomo and dedicated to Santa Maria del Fiore (Saint Mary Of The Flower), the Duomo is the third largest cathedral in the world.

When it was built, the giant dome was the largest in the world, and continued to be until Michelangelo outdid the Duomo in Florence with his design of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.
