We were playing with our Canon 5d Mark III underwater and shot a few videos with our +Nauticam housing and the +GoPro. We did some free diving 30 or so feet underwater without any ceiling, between caves.. We feel very lucky swim in these amazing places with such fancy camera toys! Hope you enjoy :)

This ant was speeding along very quickly for a macro shot....ISO 250 at 1/1000 at F5. Wildlife and nature found at the Mayan cenotes in the state of Quintana Roo, near the coast of Xpu-Ha.

I am thankful that nature is such a powerful inspiration in my life... I get to swim with giants who are some of the most docile creatures... when the food level is high (plankton and krill) they bask feed, in a vertical position. That is what is happening in this photo. This giant whale shark (25 feet long) is so happy and hardly moving when I shot this photo with a fisheye lens, a few feet away from his mouth.
I think the open mouth 5 feet wide is pretty epic in scale..... hope you like it!

Underwater macro, something I'm just starting to play with. This little guy was disguised in the moss, waiting for food to bubble up from below. I witnessed his attack a few time as I disloged a few items that rose to the surface with a surge of bubbles. This is a saltwater fish, not sure the species, but he lives in a cenote (freshwater) cave/pool that is very close to the ocean (100 meters) with a underground tube that connects the ocean to the cenote... very very cool place (Casa Cenote) Mexico. I hope you like :)

Somewhat of a famous location in Thailand, the Siamese ruins of Ayutthaya, a Thai city that was the capitol for 400+ years. The Burmese attacked the city and left much of it in ruins. They decapitated all the Buddha statues... this one was left here in this tree... pretty cool to see this :)

Here is one more in my underwater series from the cenotes of the Mayan Riviera in Mexico. The cenotes were considered portals to the Mayan Underworld, they provided offerings and even had sacrifices to appease the gods. Many say that droughts killed off their ancient civilizations. Goddess Ixchel was the center of many of their

I love shooting couples in love. Honeymooners or usually people chasing a dream destination wedding. I think this couple is a very cute couple... they were hiding out together keeping still not to be seen.
The male Masked Tityra is on the right and the female is on left. They were being touched by two little dots of sunshine on their eyes, just at the perfect moment.
Sighting these two together was special for me as I havent yet seen this species... WOW, I got a 2 for 1 on my first sighting. Hope you enjoy!

I'd like to thank the AMAZING firefighters out there who risk their lives to save others REGARDLESS of the potential risk!!
I have spent hundreds of hours in training to become a certified volunteer firefighter myself. My father is also a volunteer in a small community.... He is an instructor, a medic, and also the deputy chief... Quite a lot for a retired man in his 60's.
I identify with the families who lost loved ones in Texas...really, I want to honor them and their service. Today, I post this photo in remembrance of their love and efforts to save lives. Our hearts feel for the small community of West Texas.

One of my FAVORITE things about G+ is the amazing amount of organization of niches that exits... one of them is the amazing BIRD world. Special thanks to +Walter Soestbergen for the motivation as he always posts such beautiful species and so well framed! He also just gave me a HUGE boost to my Bird Circle, thanks for that amigo.
The Common Grackle is very under appreciated... Where I live in Playa del Carmen Mexico, there are millions of them. One of the most unique elements is the level of intelligence these birds have. They gather in massive groups in the same tree tops every day to sing at sunset. They screech amongst hundreds of neighbor birds and literally have a pow wow about their day, what they did, etc... its a rather interesting behavior.
