Smith to Donald Douglas, during which Smith persuaded a reluctant Douglas to design a sleeper aircraft based on the DC-2 to replace American's Curtiss Condor II biplanes. Douglas agreed to go ahead with development only after Smith informed him of American's intention to purchase twenty aircraft. The new aircraft was engineered by a team led by chief engineer Arthur E. Raymond over the next two years, and the prototype *DST* (for Douglas Sleeper Transport) first flew on December 17, 1935 (the 32nd anniversary of the Wright Brothers' flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina). Bouquet

Aloe dichotoma, also known as *quiver tree* or *kokerboom*, is a species of aloe indigenous to Southern Africa, specifically in the Northern Cape region, and Namibia. Known as _Choje_ to the indigenous Sanpeople, the quiver tree gets its name from the their practice of hollowing out the tubular branches of _Aloe dichotoma_ to form quivers for their arrows

Twins

Two Trojan T-28's at an airshow at the Tempe Airport near Bloemfontein in South Africa.

The *North American Aviation T-28 Trojan* is a piston-engined military trainer aircraft used by the United States Air Force and United States Navy beginning in the 1950s. Besides its use as a trainer, the T-28 was successfully employed as a Counter-insurgency (COIN) aircraft, primarily during the Vietnam War.
