Encrypt Your Gmail/Webmail with Mailvelope
So PGP (Pretty Good Protection) email encryption has been out for a while. But until recently it's only been usable with standalone mail applications (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.).
A new service called Mailvelope.com changes all this. The service brings PGP encryption to your Webmail account.
It's worth a try and it's FREE.

I've been waiting for this for so long. It's finally here, the Google+ Commenting System.
Have you tried it? It's only officially for Blogger as of now (makes sense since Blogger is owned by Google), but the unofficial Wordpress plugin works great!

I get what +Lifehacker is trying to do. I really do, but when you go to the site it's hard to get used to. The headlines should be above the photos, and the social share buttons are impossible to find. I tried to share something on "Escaping the Cult of Busy" and I gave up.

WordPress bloggers: Security Note:
A botnet controlled by bad guys is doing a brute-force attack on WordPress sites, apparently via the former default “admin” administrative account. My hosting provider offers these instructions on how to avoid this particular issue:
Until a couple of years ago, the default/starter account on every WP site was named “admin.” That’s no longer true, but there are still a lot of sites out there with an account called “admin.”
There is currently a large-scale botnet-driven attack going on that is trying to brute-force its way into WP sites by guessing passwords on the “admin” account.
Visit the Dashboard of each of your WordPress sites, click on Users, and make sure none of the accounts are called “admin.” If you find any, please make sure you have another account with Administrator privileges, then log in with that new account... more »

An Amazing Story Of A Magazine That Changed The Way We Talk About Technology
Wired, which in my opinion is the most important technology publication of all time, is turning 20. It's hard to believe that it started back in 1988, well before much of the technology we interact with on a regular basis today.
Think about it... 1988, the Internet was in no way mainstream, computers were bulky and slow as molasses (though they seemed fast back then), Google wasn't even a twinkle in Larry and Sergey's eye. Wired's success is nothing less than an amazing example of foresight and luck.
