Parents blame teen for making their daughter gay, have her arrested
In a nutshell. Two high school girls started dating when they were 15 and 17. The parents of the 15 year old freaked at the thought their daughter might be gay and waited for the older girl to turn 18 and then had her arrested for rape of a minor. The relationship was consensual, both are still in high school, and the older girl now faces 15 years in prison. This is bullshit. If you need help dealing with your bigoted baggage about your daughter being gay, go to a therapist, not the courts.

I don't hate gays ..but completely understand the resistance to accepting homosexuals. However, it's the behavior/act that is appalling, especially when they want it taught in schools and want to normalize it when it is not normal behavior but a disorder. I can love the sinner, but not the sin.

Sadly the homosexual lobby got them to remove it from the DSM of mental disorders and this is the result since the 70's they have been pushing it down our throats with gay parades and rainbow flags, etc and now pushing it in schools by using 'anti-bullying' programs. This article details the experience of just one person the IRS audited and harassed for political reasons because the President, in speeches and on his campaign website, called this person out as a Romney donor and said he was "less than reputable"  So is it any wonder the IRS took the President at his word and subjected him to multiple audits?

I just made my Kickstarter goal!
Which means the book on luxury camping is a GO and my new business starting a quality (and not ugly) camping gear line is a GO!  If you haven't done a kickstarter campaign you have no idea what this feels like.  It's amazing and humbling and amazing. And I flopped down on the floor and cried when I hit goal so it's a good thing my husband wasn't home or he would have been eye rolling something fierce.  And then I jumped up and called my mom because even when you are in your 40's when awesome shit happens you call your mom.

So THANK YOU everyone who supported me and passed on info about the kickstarter.  And +Gary Hoggatt - you were the very first person to back my kickstarter - thank you!!!

My book and Kickstarter made the news!  And speaking of the kickstarter - only 46 more hours to raise $600.  I either hit my funding goal and receive the funds to publish the book or I miss the funding goal and no funds and no books.  For those that have backed my project, thank you!  If you are thinking about backing my project, now's the time.

Why not allow employees to pick between being paid over-time or taking comp time?

Working Families Flexibility Act of 2013 (H.R. 1406) has passed the House but it doesn't look good for it passing in the Senate.  The Bill simply allows employees to pick if they want to paid for overtime or would rather take that time off.  For many working parents, they need the time off to take care of sick kids, attend school activities, manage daycare costs better, etc.  Under current federal law, it's illegal for an employee to take overtime compensation in anything other than $.  

This law, while it was needed during the Depression, should be changed to allow for more family friendly (and especially woman friendly) options.  When I talk about how legal abortion was just supposed to be a step along the way to gender equality, but now we've been duped into thinking abortion isall ... more »

If you wonder why people stop volunteering, or get burnt out at their jobs, it's because of the bitching, whining, and complaining others ( who don't do jack shit) do about how you do your job. Feh. It's not any one person or any one complaint about how you did, or didn't, do this or that. It's the sheer number over time from multiple people. Like water wearing down rock.

All it takes to charge up a person's battery and keep them from getting fried is to once in a while, instead of bitching about what they do that you freaking benefit from (and don't contribute to) is to just say, "thank you."

Do we have a state run media?
Most of us have heard the claims of media bias towards the left or that journalists don't aggressively cover the President because they don't want to loose access and contacts. What if it's something a bit more mundane?

The Benghazi story is finally breaking, reluctantly, into the mainstream. It's clear the administration knew, even while the attack was happening, that it was an organized and planned attack by terrorists. Yet they scrubbed the CIA report and misled the public on the eve of an election and tried to pass it off as a spontaneous demonstration that got out of hand. With mortars. So why did it take some of the media ( I say some because some still aren't really covering it ) so long to ask the questions when bloggers and new media have been reporting this information since September?

Understanding Klout
No, I'm not going to tell you what your score means or how they come up with it or how to increase it because I don't know.  And my caring level to gain such knowledge is low.  What I do know is my score is much higher than it should be.  I don't have the (close to) rock star influence that a score of 68 says I should have.  I signed up for Klout over a year ago because when you freelance marketing jobs they do look at your Klout score.  How many of you use Klout?  Do you have it for fun or for business opportunities?  Does it get you free drinks in nightclubs?  (Hey baby, I have a Klout score of 68")

Our new place
Since it finally stopped snowing my husband surprised me with a few hanging baskets.  And I was able to put out some of my plants and miniature trees.  Don't have a patio set yet so I used folding chairs.  Good enough for now, especially for such a tiny, tiny space.  That little front part is all we have of outdoor space.  Got to make the best of it.

Open to suggestions - threw my neck out

Damn, damn, damn.  What a day for this to happen.  I've put my neck totally out of wack - shooting pains into my head, seeing spots, nausea.  I'm in such a time crunch and now I'll need to hit the Chiropractor at 2pm.  Hopefully my husband can drive me because I really don't think I can drive myself.  So - any suggestions for how to stay functional until 2 pm?  I have to keep plugging away.

Looking for suggestions

I'm looking for suggestions to help my stalled Kickstarter campaign. Many of you have either created or helped with successful kickstarters.  I'm at 43% funded, which is good, but backers have really slowed down and since kickstarter is all or nothing (hit your goal or you don't receive a cent) that's not so good.

Part of the problem is for the last week I was extremely busy with other state and international projects that happen annually.  A person should strive to make the world a better place, right?  (Example:  I chair International pagan Coming Out Day, an organization that works to end discrimination)  But it meant I couldn't devote as much time to my kickstarter.  So it has stalled.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to breath new life into her?  Ideas that worked for you, or would intrigue you asa potent... more »

To have some fun getting ready for the Libertarian Party of Minnesota state convention we decided to ask people to name the two specialty cocktails we'll have in our hospitality suite.  (We're doing 2 for our state party colors - navy blue and gold)) The winning name for the blue cocktail is Liquid Liberty and we just posted the gold one.

 The gold cocktail is a new take on the Double Standard Sour. It has Scotch and Gin, with simple syrup and lime. Smooth with citrus and oak flavors. So 

The blue one has a base of vodka, curacao, some cranberry juice, and hint of fresh lime. The name with the most votes is Liquid Liberty - and we'll float some real gold stars in it for fun!

This has really engaged people on our social media and helps get people excited about the convention.  After all, we're Libertarians - we should have some fun, right?

What can you do to raise awareness and support those coming out tomorrow? You can wear Pagan clothing or jewelry and just go about your daily business. When people have a positive experience with you, at work, shopping, or at a coffee shop they have a more positive view of our religion and that makes it safer for others to come out. Also - last year when I wore my PCOD t-shirt I was stopped in a grocery store by a Pagan who was still in the closet and they said it meant so much to them there was a day like May 2nd and they didn't feels... more »
