Here's an amazing statistic on mobile that I just read:
70% of mobile searches lead to an action within an hour, while 70% of desktop searches lead to an action within a month.
I just gave a talk on the power of mobile last month below - I wish I had had that stat back then!

I think that Google is working on two of the most exciting, disruptive products this century so far, with the Google self-driving car and Google Glass. I have followed the car's progress, but the power of it really struck me in full force when I saw the image and video below.

The Mobile Phone Revolution is Democratic. It's reaching everyone.
Amazingly, if you look at the top 20 countries by cell phones, the list is dominated by many low-GDP countries.

Every new technology goes through a period where people "port" the old to the new.
Usually, about a decade in, people "invent" or discover the true meaning of the new medium.
I believe we are getting there right now with the mobile revolution. I try to describe that here: http://j.mp/Yy7tWV

Tip - Freeze & Preserve Fresh Herbs in Olive Oil - The herbs will infuse the oil while freezing, and the ice cubes are very handy for cooking: just pop one out and use as the base of a dish. Works best with rosemary, sage, thyme, and oregano. However, dill, basil, and mint should always be used fresh.

It's a video suggesting that the brain structures that perceive "optical illusions" are probably deeply rooted, or they would not be common to species as different as human and cat.

Arc de Triomphe
I just love the Arc de Triomphe, I love taking it's picture standing on the corner of the Champs Elysées, I love climbing up it's stairs and seeing Paris stretched out in front of me, and I love walking under it's arches and seeing all the city names of places they conquered (quite a few of which were in the country I'm originally from, whoops).
So when I was there last year I spend about an hour waiting for that perfect moment where I could take this shot without any of the always present traffic in the way ruining it's timeless beauty. Waiting for an hour really isn't so bad when you have hundreds of tourists of all kinds keeping you company, and this as a view. And I think the shot was well worth it.

#ifihadglass I would build an application framework that would automatically learn the most salient parts of my life to capture, and index, and use feedback from how much I use things / search for things again, to make the search results more relevant over time. The goal would be to help me manage the new large stream of information that will be commonplace with Glass.

Here are the top 10 Things I learned at Day 1 of TED 2013:
Day 1 of TED 2013 is already complete, and it has been a whirlwind, to say the least. If Day 1 alone had been the entire conference (and there’s 3 more days to go!) it would have already exceeded many conferences in the world in terms of impact on my thinking.
Here are some of the things I learned on this first day:
1. Tylar Skibbets of MIT spoke about the amazing possibility of bringing the ideas of self-organized assembly that have been advanced with micro-devices up to the macro scale. Not just to toys and to hand-held sized devices, but even up to the size of buildings and architectural scale. It’s an amazing concept – and one that I had never heard about – and it opens up incredible possibilities to “shape” the world around us in more useful and interesting ways.
2. Susan Kish spoke about the importanc... more »

Bono gave an amazing talk just now at TED 2013. A few quotes here:
"Humanity's long slow journey towards equality is speeding up." Bono sharing his optimism about progress.
"7,256 fewer children are dying per day. Have you heard/read ANYTHING as important as that?"
"2028 is just around the corner. It's just about 3 Rolling Stones farewell concerts away."
"The vaccine for corruption is transparency, and technology is turbo-charging this."

ShaoLan at TED just showed an amazing new method of teaching Chinese that she invented. It takes the shapes of the Chinese characters, simplifies them, and turns them into visual mnemonics that are just amazingly clever. Here's a picture of some of them. When this talk comes online, I really recommend it!
For example, the character on the left below is fire, the next is tree, then next is sun, moon, etc.
What an amazingly great abstract way to step out of the complexity and work your way into memorability.

Star Wars Death Star Home Theater - Mind Blowing!
Look at this incredible home theater and tell yourself you don't want this. It oozes coolness and #awesomesauce !
No kidding; this theater is in someone’s house! This is NOT your father's Death Star theater... unless, of course, you happen to be Luke Skywalker. They fabricated this custom home theater with automatic doors and twinkling star fields. As Marlon Brando would yell, "Stellar!"
The owners of this residence commissioned Doug Chiang who produced the original concepts for the theater. Who better than a Star Wars designer to design a theater based on the Death Star? Phenomenal! We were given various illustrations of different views of the room which we translated into shop drawings.

"Petra by Night"
Petra, Jordan
Top 12 Images of 2012 (http://bit.ly/130ciJn)
When it comes to travel bucket lists, the ancient city of Petra, Jordan generally ranks among the top 3 travel destinations for most photographers. After spending a month in Jordan teaching a photography workshop (+The Giving Lens ) with my good friend +Ken Kaminesky in 2012, I can completely understand why. Of all my travels around the world, I have never seen anything like the ancient city of Petra that was carved out of the canyon walls.
To top it off, a few nights a week, a small portion of Petra is opened up at night to a select number of ticket holders. Starting at the entrance, candles light your way as you walk through "The Siq" that takes your through the rose colored canyon walls that tower over head. Eventually the canyon narrows and through the dim candle lig... more »

AVOID THE TOP 10 BIGGEST BRAIN DAMAGING HABITS
According to world health organization following are such habits that will damage your brain severely:
1. No Breakfast – People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level. This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.
2. Overreacting – It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power.
3. Smoking – It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.
4. High Sugar consumption – Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.
5. Air Pollution – The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decreas... more »

Its three legs can easily be folded out, allowing it to be placed on a flat surface. The mirror head opens, and the projection is directed towards the table surface or a wall.
