Great shot.
I've shot there as well. It is very challenging … both shooting and processing. The advice I got from +Jacques Gudé which I think came originally from you, Trey, was to enable auto ISO on the camera. It worked very well. I was extremely happy with the results.

Spare me the details
Here’s a shot I previewed a couple of months back with an iPhone photo I posted on Instagram, as well as here on Google +. I was going to talk a bit about how I process my photographs, but I’ll spare you the boring details. If you want to get a flavor of what I do to my photos, I walk you through my process in a couple of videos you can find at wwwjacquesgude.com, under Tutorials & How-Tos.

All the news that's fit to print...
As I mentioned in my previous post, I took the time to head back to Eastern State Penitentiary (ESP), in Philadelphia, PA, this time with my Nikon D700, my super wide-angle lens, the Nikkor 14-24, and my trusty Really Right Stuff tripod. Admittedly, that kit is significantly heavier than rolling with just my iPhone, which I’ve been doing for many months now, but I think ESP is one of those places that justifies the hassle. I’ve got a few other shots I’ll post over time, including one of Al Capone’s cell (he was a “guest” at ESP in 1929, for those of you who may not know).

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
Yes. It's true! Hell has frozen over and I've finally gotten around to shooting my DSLR and post processing an HDR. Been so long I had to remind myself how to use Lightroom and Photomatix Pro. Turns out there was even a newer version of Photomatix Pro out there (version 4.2). Just opening this up in Photoshop at the moment to see if I remember how to use that as well. If I do, I'll post the final piece for you all here and at www,jacquesgude.com tomorrow.

Writer's Block
As planned, I made it back to Eastern State Penitentiary this past Sunday, this time with my DSLR and a few lenses. The shot you are looking at now, from one of the many writers' blocks... er, I mean cell blocks, came out of my iPhone, as have 99 per cent of what I've posted here and on my blog over the last many months. I'm hoping to post a shot taken with the DSLR on Friday... maybe. Can't decided what to process first.

Doing time... again!
I enjoyed my brief (a couple of hours), #iPhoneonly (and Fuji X100) , visit to Eastern State Penitentiary, a couple of weeks ago, so much I've decided I MUST, MUST return... tomorrow! In fact, the place was so cool, and there were so many instances that I wanted for my super wide angle Nikon lens, that I'm going back with the Nikon D700 and the few lenses this time to do the place greater justice, as it were. Let's see what happens!

Stardust...
I shot this one the other day in downtown Redding, CA. Always did have a soft spot signs like this. I found quite a few of these along Route 66, during last years two-week run along that historic highway, as well.

Shot this one on the way back from Lassen Volcanic National Park this Saturday, stark contrast to what we saw at Lassen, where 7 to 9 feet of snow was the norm.

I'll get around to it... one day
I suppose I never thought the day would come, but it did. I finally got around to shooting with my DSLR again! As some of you may know, some months back, I think it was December last, I dropped my camera and several lenses off at the local camera shop for routine service. Problem was that I did not miss that gear one bit. Instead, I took to shooting entirely with my iPhone, with a few shots here and there with my X100. I got the camera back sometime in January (or was it early Feb?), but never pulled it out to do anything, still hooked on the simplicity of creating art with my iPhone. I loved being able to shoot, process and post in mere minutes, and gave up on wasting my time doing any post-processing on my computer. Anyway, I finally brought the DSLR out last week to shoot a few brackets around where I live (here's the proof). Heck, maybe... more »

iPhoto, therefore I am...
I've had a few people look at some of my iPhoneography portfolio (I never tell them upfront that they are looking at iPhone photos), several of whom have commented: "You must have a great camera!" It takes a while to convince them that I shot and processed the images with only my iPhone. I grabbed this one while walking around the Tidal Basin, in Washington, D.C., between the Jefferson Memorial and the Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial. I pulled the iPhone out of my pocket as soon as I heard the helicopter coming, knowing that they almost always fly fairly low over the basin.

The Cabin in the Woods
Spent a few hours in Washington D.C. and surrounding area, shooting and posting a few photos to Instagram. While checking out the photos of folks I follow there, I noticed a tag I had not seen yet, #sunsetsaturday . That prompted me to head west a ways to see if I could find something interesting to put in front of a sunset. Here's what I came up with. I sent it to my 11-year old daughter (the family artist and my most trusted critic) to see what she thought. You're seeing it here because she said she liked it, A LOT!

Knock-Knock...
While out shooting at a well known Civil War battlefield here in Virginia the other day, this doorway grabbed my attention, so I shot and processed it with my iPhone. I really loved the lines in this one and thought it a great candidate for black &white (mostly) processing.

The Keep
When I go out shooting, I don't just look at the obvious. I look for what lies beneath. Much like a sculptor who sees the beauty and mystery hidden deep within a piece of marble, it's not what's there that usually matters most to me, but rather what my mind's eye sees. One of the reasons I love iPhoneography is that I can shoot, process and post what I "see" in the moment, rather than waiting hours or, more often than not, many days to recreate what I saw.

Little house on the prairie
Spent the day roaming around a civil war battlefield today, shooting several keepers with my iPhone along the way. This is probably one of my favorites of the day, which I posted from to Instagram, from the front lines, as it were. For those interested in keeping up with me on Instagram, you can find me there at @JacquesGude if you like.

Looking for an ebay rockstar in the DC metro area to sell all my gear
Decided to sell about 95+ per cent of my DSLR gear and am looking for someone in the local area (DC, Maryland, Virginia) to take on the hassle of listing, selling and shipping all my stuff for a commission. Anyone out there reading this who'd like to take this on, or know someone who might? If so, please let me know. Thanks!

Here's one I shot a couple of Friday's ago. I posted it on Instagram at the time, under the profile @JacquesGude and meant to post it here on G+ yesterday (Friday). Anyway, here it is, a day late.

Is it me, or have I not been posting much to G+? For that matter, I've not been posting much to my website either. What gives? Guess I've got the proverbial "too many balls in the air" at the moment. Somethings gotta give, right? Anyway, just so you all know I'm still photographing (when I the Spirit moves me), here's one I grabbed (and processed) with the ol' iPhone during a brief shooting spree today!

Cascading Harmonics
On my way back to our place in Redding last night, after dropping a buddy of mine off at his mountain retreat, I decided to come through the older part of town to check out my favorite old theater there. I always dig the lights there. I grabbed this shot with my iPhone and posted it in my Instagram stream, where you can find me posting under the profile... wait for it... wait for it... Yep, you guessed it:@JacquesGude."Anywho", here's the shot. Anyone else out there got a cool shot of an old theater to share? If so, link it here in the comments so we can all enjoy it!

Mean Green Guerilla iPhoneography?
I shot this one at a mall on Thursday, mere moments after leaving my Apple Genius Bar appointment. I had spotted a bunch of green chairs, each in pairs, sitting around small round coffee table, knowing I'd want to grab a shot on the way past them again. As I grabbed one of the green chairs and walked it out out into the main floor of the mall, I could feel the cafe barista burning a whole in the back of my head. I ignored it, grabbed my shot, popped the chair back into place and moved along.

I wonder what's on the inside...
Here's a cool little old abandoned house I ran across the other day on historic Route 50. As luck would have it, the side door was open, so I blasted a few #HDR brackets with my DSLR for good measure. Heck, I might even get around to post-processing them and posting them here and on my blog... maybe. Problem is it's just so much more convenient (and fun at this point) for me to shoot, process and post things with my iPhone.

In case of Fire...
Here's a shot I posted a few days back on Instagram, my favorite app on the iPhone, by a damn sight. Why? Because, to me, it is THE community to share one's iPhonegraphy, while also enjoying the work of the many, many great iPhoneographers who share their own work there. If you have an iPhone and you love photography, you should seriously consider getting in on the Instagram fun. By the way, if you do decide to jump in with both feet, look me up. I'm on there as @JacquesGude

In preparation for tomorrow's new #iPhoneographyFriday theme, I would like to share my circle of well-known and lesser-known iPhoneographers with you.
If you are passionate about iPhoneography (_yes_, you know who you are!), please feel free to add your name to the list and also please share the circle with your tribe.
Thanks!

What do you all think?
Now that we've got Google+, I sometimes feel the urge to share some of the work almost none of my G+ friends might have seen since there's little traffic on my website. What do you all think of me doing that here? Is it okay? Is it too... dare I say... self promoting?
In any case, this is a shot (and message) I posted in October 2010, which I suppose is eons ago when it come to the Internet, no?
