|Thomas Hawk||6,716,374||2500 Kick Ass Google+ Photographers (part 1 of 5)This is the fifth time I've shared my photographer's circle on Google+. I'm going to share it in 5 posts. This one , part 1 of 5, today, one tomorrow, one Monday, one Tuesday and the final one on Wednesday. I originally shared my photographers circle at 500, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 photographers. I'll probably share it again eventually when it gets to 3,000.A few notes about this circle. The criteria that I look for (and don't always get right) in this circle is that the photographer produce interesting and engaging photography. I also look for people who are active in the community, post mostly their own work, and post regularly. I'm looking more for people who post their own work and less of the noise stuff (gifs, links, non-photography, promotions, etc.). I also like people who are positive, friendly, nice, helpful, etc. and dislike people who are mean, snarky, jerks, disrespectful, etc.I have a pretty well known bias against signatures and watermarks. You will see very few photographers in my circles who use them. I really hate the watermark debate and would rather not have it with folks. I just don't like them -- it's my circle that I have to look at. There are likely a few folks in here who use them who are friends of mine, but for the most part, this is a pretty watermark free circle. It's totally cool if you love your watermark, it's just not something I really want to look at. Please don't hate me for my aesthetic preference. Finally, the photography community on Google+ is probably the best one on the internet today. There is no way that I can possibly include all of the fine photographers worth following on G+. There are wayyyyy too many. These are just 2,500 that I personally have noticed. I'm sure I left out some really amazing ones -- like you if you are not in this circle :) I'll probably also totally kick myself when I realize that I accidentally left out a really obvious good one who may even be a friend of mine -- again, maybe even like you. :)Stay tuned for parts 2, 3, 4 and 5 and thanks again to all of the great photographers on G+ who make this place such a delight to hang out.||2013-08-29 13:26:38||494||70||38||172||CC G+|

|Andrew Melder||1,782||Let's try this again, for anyone who was having issues adding the last circle share.Perth Circle update - 13/8/2012For those new to the concept, I share this circle which contains other Google+ users with a connection to Perth or WA. It's a great way to expand your Google+ experience while adding people who you already have something in common with. If you're not keen on being part of the circle for whatever reason, just let me know in the comments or in a private message and I will remove you from the circle. FAQs:Why I don't moderate the listWhile people can maintain their own circle, add and remove people of their choosing without using my list at all; as someone who started sharing the Perth circle initially, I feel like I shouldn't decide what is considered spam or excessive posts for anyone else who is using my list.As was the original goal of the circle, I will add anyone who is in Perth and using Google+ and then everyone else can decide whether they want to circle them or not.Guide for new users to add the Perth circleTo use this circle, simply click Add Circle on this post below. On the next popup you will be given an option to name this circle for your own reference then simply click the Create or add to circles button. Then it's simply a matter of watching your stream fill up with various and interesting updates from a wide range of people all over Perth.||2012-08-13 13:16:38||479||1||1||2||CC G+|

|Thomas Hawk||6,716,374||2,000 Kick Ass Photographers on Google+Part 1 of 4 (A-Ev)This is the fourth time since joining G+ almost a year ago that I'm sharing my photographers circle. I shared it with 500 photographers, 1,000 photographers, 1,500 photographers and now 2,000 photographers. I have to break my circle up into four 500 photographer circles as that is the G+ limit. Each day this week (Mon.- Thurs.) I'll share a different circle. Today is the first circle and includes photographers with the last name's A-Ev (although +Marc Evans you are in tomorrow's circle). A few notes about these circles. I always get hated on when I share them by people. Inevitably if I include 2,000 people, I will leave 50,000 people out. This is not intentional or personal. This circle is not "the best" photographers on G+ or in the world. It doesn't mean if you are not in my circle that you are not a "quality" photographer. This list is simply photographers that I've stumbled across for whatever reason over the past year and have chosen to follow their work. In some cases I've gotten to know the photographers in this circle personally -- through photowalks and trips, hangouts, in real life, etc. Many of these people are or have become my friends. Most of the photographers in my circle though I don't even know. They are just people whose work I admire and want to consume -- I hope many are future friends. :)I use some objective criteria with this circle but I use a lot of subjective criteria too. This is, afterall, my own personal circle that I look at and +1 from every single day. My aesthetic taste and personal preferences may be very, very different than yours. This is ok. Art is subjective. That said, here a breakdown of my own preferences and biases that influence who I add into my circle.1. I like people who are active on G+. If you haven't posted one of your photos in the last month you probably are not in this circle. I use a script to uncircle inactive people regularly.2. I like photographers who mostly post their own photographs. I dislike clutter and "dumb stuff" in my photographers circle. Excessive reshares, circle shares, memes, gifs, youtube videos, posts not about photography, web links, etc. make me uncircle or move people to a different circle. I also like photographers who regulate how much of their photography they post to their stream. I don't want to see 50 shots in a row of someone's vacation. I think about 5 photos max a day feels about right to me.3. *Controversial* I dislike signatures and watermarks. You will find photographers in my circle that use them. It's just a bias, not a hard and fast rule. I mostly want this stream to be as watermark/signature free as possible. I totally understand and respect your reasons and decision for using watermarks/signatures. I hope you equally respect my decision to not want to consume photos mared up with them. Please don't turn this into a discussion about watermarks/sigs, I've spent the last 10 years thinking heavily about this issue. It's just a personal preference and bias.4. I like people who are active, positive, helpful, enthusiastic G+ community members. I dislike people who are rude, mean, complainers, trolls, harrasers, etc. If you say mean things to people, about people, about their art or their work I don't want to follow you. I'm fine with debate and disagreement. It should just be done respectfully -- there's a huge difference between respectful disagreement and rude behavior. Not only will you not be in this circle if you are rude, I'll probably||2012-06-04 16:53:26||500||235||147||424||CC G+|
|Peter From||67,166||The Revised & Validated UPCOMING STARS CIRCLE #CircleSharingForThePeopleUCSR2 It's finally here again. I really hope that I have managed to remove everyone with more than 7500 followers from this circle. If I missed somebody, I beg your pardon –– but it REALLY takes time to curate a circle like this.Anyway... I am really proud to present 500 excellent upcoming stars that produce great photography. You don't want to miss this circle. I am sure they will bring lots and lots of great and interesting images to your feeds. If YOU want to hop on the next UCS train, do the following:1. Help spread the word and reshare this circle post. Why? If you think you should be promoted, you should be willing to do the same for your fellow artists. Simple as that.2. Ask for inclusion in the comments and state that you have reshared. I will check every feed sooner or later.3. Make sure that you share your own original photography in your feed. If there are too many reshares of other peoples' work, irrelevant YouTube clips, animated GIFS, blog post teasers etc., I might not add you to the circle. The UCS is a validated quality circle that should bring people great imagery to their feeds.NOTE! If you see that I have plussed your comment, then you know that I have added you to the next revision of the UCS. I didn't PLUS your comment? Make sure that you have reshared this circle post and let me know that you did so.HOW TO AVOID FLOODING OF THIS POST IN YOUR FEED:*This post is hash-tagged with #CircleSharingForThePeoplUSCR2 so that you may mute the reshares this post will generate. That way you will avoid seeing multiple copies of this post in your feed and your adrenaline level will stay normal. I will add a new hash-tag for every announcement and circle post. That way you won't miss out on any of the action but still can mute all the duplicate reshares.* Here is an excellent add-on that will help you to mute the reshares: http://code.google.com/p/nonplus/Cheers!||2012-06-04 12:31:56||500||99||102||110||CC G+|
|Peter From||67,166||The Upcoming Stars Circle –– Updated Version +Circle Share Well, it's noon Monday CET and it's time to share the validated and updated version of my popular USC. It contains 325 excellent photographers on their way up here on Google+. They all have less than 7500 followers but deserve a lot more than they already have. It's a privilege to promote these wonderful artists. So, check out this circle or add it to your own circles ad hoc –– you won't be disappointed.Do YOU want to be included in the next edition of the USC? Well, if you have less than 7500 followers and are willing to reshare this post in your feed, drop me a line in the comments below and I'll check your stream out. If you have enough decent original work in your feed, I'll add you. No resahre, no inclusion –– no exceptions. (As always with my validated circles.)Why do I want you to reshare this post? Because I believe in sharing and resharing. If you want to be shared –– the least you can do is to help promote the rest of the great photographers by resharing the circle post. If you are not happy with that, I respect that. But don't ask to be included. :)Cheers and #happymonday everybody!PS! If YOU have a circle you want to promote, go to the +Circle Share page and leave a comment on the top post.NOTE! UPDATE! The next USC update reshare will be done in co-operation with my friend +Charles Lupica.||2012-04-23 10:29:35||325||252||192||135||CC G+|
