Are we suffering from too much of a good thing?
Can megavitamins increase our risk of cancer and heart disease and shorten our lives?
The studies are in, and the short answer is: yes.
In a nutshell:
Free radicals aren’t as evil as advertised
We need free radicals to kill bacteria and eliminate new cancer cells.
The antioxidant paradox is simply this:
Take too many vitamins and "the balance between free radical production and destruction might tip too much in one direction, causing an unnatural state where the immune system is less able to kill harmful invaders."
So, why aren't we told about this?

The Recovering Meditator
In April, my husband, Denis, gave me the gift of a one week silent meditation retreat at Gaia House in Devon. I've never been on such a retreat before and initially thought I would go crazy not being able to talk for a week, especially as the course outline said it was ‘not for beginners’! However, I quickly discovered that by having the normal mechanisms of a ‘civilised’ social context removed (i.e. no small talk at mealtimes in order to make myself look good or seem better than others), I actually felt a huge relief. I didn't need to pretend that I was confident and had my life sorted. In fact, the routine of each day was so pared down, to the simplicity of eating, sleeping, going to the bathroom and long periods of meditation, that there was no running away from the truth: I have no idea what my life is about or why I am here.

Our children are saving the planet
A 19 year old Dutch Engineering student named, *Boyen Slat, designed an Ocean Clean Up Array that could cleanup megatons of plastics from our oceans in five years.
It would use a floating system with buoyant arms extended over the ocean to direct and filter the plastic, without harming sea creatures. The system resembles a giant manta ray.
Boyen Slat is currently undertaking a feasibility study to determine if his solution for cleaning up the oceans plastic refuse is viable. I hope it is because it seems that it really could work and it may even be profitable.
