Just a update:

I want to be everywhere and do everything but today I have to admit that age takes it's toll. Lately, especially today it seems, I'm having a lot of pain in my shoulder from arthritis - makes it hard to type. No worries - just a touch of age.

Today +Lucille Galleli is helping out - getting a taste for curating a theme. You might call her our newest apprentice curator :DD So, welcome Lucille as she acts on my behalf. I'll try to catch up on the theme later today.

Once again it's time for Wide Wednesday Panorama

Things got a bit too hectic last week and I didn't get to many of the panoramas. Even when I did get to them, it was Thursday or Friday. I'm still looking for one or more co-curators. Curating, where you try to view everything and comment, then make a "Thank You" circle, takes a lot of work. So, co-curating a theme like #wideWednesdayPanorama is best suited to someone that is retired, has Wednesday free, or works from home. I have asked before for co-curators but I'm having a hard time finding anyone that is willing to commit at this level. You don't have to be a great panorama photographer to co-curate. The most important thing about curating, IMHO, is engaging the people that takepart in the theme.

It's been a hectic week and we would like to apologize for not getting to most of your panoramas this week. +Jason Dell has started a new job in the real world and is adjusting to that. I'm busy trying to come to grips with all of the things I'm doing on G+ and I need to scale back much of what I'm doing so that I have time to actually produce some new images.

We expect to continue the theme and I expect to be part of it for sometime to come. I do lots of different genre of photography but I still consider myself a panorama photographer.

I still hope to get to the contributions this week, but I don't know if that's going to happen. Please accept my apologies.

Selected Nature & Landscape Photographers (update v6)

Here's an update of the Nature & Landscape Photographers circle. I have reviewed 350 new requests and re-checked the existing 450 and selected the 400 photographers I liked best.

Here is the "scaled back *Thank You Circle*" for Wednesday 11 January 2012. It is my hope that this circle contains all of the people that contributed images and / or commented on posts.

As per always, I would like to note that many of the people in this circle will have received a notification that they were added to my circle. This is a temporary circle and I may need to drop some people in order to build a new circle next week.

360º -- The Art of Framing

Photography is normally seen as the transformation from 4D (time added to the three dimensions of space) to 2D.
One very distinctive moment while shooting an image is that a single image always contains the "point of view" and the "point of interest". In this way, the reduction adds something to it, which is purely based on the photographer.

A full spherical panorama (360º/180º) seems to take away the "point of interest", and only the flat reproduction of the data brings something back to it. This is similar to any circular panorama. With the offset function in Photoshop, we can "cycle" through the panorama and integrate a point of interest again. But as long as we don't crop the sides of the panorama, any change of the offset will change the expression of the image. See example.
