New Medicare Part G Program
In case you missed the announcement.

You're a sick senior citizen and the government says there is no nursing home available for you. So what do you do?

Our plan gives anyone 65 years or older a gun and 4 bullets. You are allowed to shoot four Politicians.

Need new teeth? No problem. Need glasses? That’s great. Need a new hip, knees, kidney, lungs or heart? They’re all covered.

As an added bonus, your kids can come and visit you as often as they do now.

Why Should Anyone Care?
The Law of Diffusion Of Innovation explained...

Simon Sinek: How great leaders inspire action. Back in 2009 Simon Sinek explored how leaders can inspire cooperation, trust and change. His message may be as powerful today as on the day he gave this TED talk.  Even more revealing are the many comments posted on his video page at TED and the differing perspectives and opinions in critique of his message.  He's the author of the classic "Start With Why," and his new book is "Leaders Eat Last."

What's up with Wayseeer?

You've probably heard about or watched the new Wayseer Manifesto video. Personally, after watching, I looked to find the 'new' within it. Or, more accurately, to find a way around to understanding the true purpose and meaning of it.  The juvenile left in me loved the form and function of the piece while the mileage on my lifetime odometer said "we've been down this road before..."

On the other side of the way is this,  http://goo.gl/DWC2r  piece calling the Wayseer Manifesto a "promotional tool for psychopathy" that deconstructs the video almost word for word as a blatant tool of manipulation.

 What's your take?

Water Powered Rocket Boots
Great shot by my good friend +Cliff Gonshery taken just as the flyer shoots out of the water at Harbor Island, San Diego.

This is something similar to a 'Flyboard'  but don't know the exact brand... See  'Flyboard' info below.

The Flyboard lets you leap in and out of the water like a dolphin all while floating around in what appears to be a water-powered Iron Man suit. The Flyboard works in a very similar fashion as the water-powered jetpack: water is pumped from a large body of water through a small boat-like device that allows large blasts of water to propel the user into the air. As a result, atmospheric phenomena can travel around the globe, exchanging information even from remote places of the Earth easily. Technology: Collaboration vs email trees

ht: +Phill Hocking & +Paul Simbeck-Hampson

The email tree is indeed a problem that refuses to die. This video defines the problem well but falls short on the solution, imo. There are several different solutions out there, but with Google Apps for Business email trees are truly a thing of the past. Group collaboration is on the document itself, in real time. The link below shows you how in detail.

The Knowledge Cost

Knowledge has a value and a discovery cost, each to be counted and weighed. In order for the former to make sense the latter has to become 'democratized'. The social media revolution, not to mention search, has brought the discovery cost of knowledge down significantly. When knowledge is easy to discover we are partially defined by the way we use it to do something more with it. What we then become is not the result of what we know (that is now freely available to all) but how we use it to generate greater value. ___ht: +David Amerland

The Social Era: Invest in People, not Companies!
As paradigm shifts go, social business is THE game changer that can right many of the business wrongs we've experienced in the past 30 years. Symbolically, Gordon Gekko (http://goo.gl/QlXr) may have simply laid the rotten egg (not so golden after-all) that spiraled a global economy down to its knees as a result.  Social Business itself is a debated term (see +Gideon Rosenblatt excellent piece, http://goo.gl/Ue6nQ). Regardless of all the socio-political-fiscal-rhetoric when we invest in things (ie. a company) the ROI (Return On Investment) is dicey at best where only a very chosen few actually gain significant benefit. In contrast, history shows that when we invest in people, more benefit across the board. The notion of doing well by greed must be replaced with doing well by doing good. A timely observation by one of G+'s premier thought leaders +David Amerland once again hits it out of the park! I was just having a similar and relevant conversation with one of my clients regarding the ROI of of a Google effort. This is simple and priceless.

Cost and Effect

Activity based management establishes relationships between overhead costs and activities so that overhead costs can be more precisely allocated to products, services, or customer segments. Using analysis that helps establish the value of specific activities it answers the seemingly simple question: "Is it worth it?".

To quantify the importance of the approach consider that Charles Babbage (the spiritual father of computing) looked at the mail system in place in Victorian England and wrote: "...dispatched nightly from Bristol,a mail pouch weighed less than one hundred pounds. To send these messages 120 miles, “a coach and apparatus, weighing above thirty hundred weight, are put in motion, and also conveyed over the same space." The seemingly exorbitant effort that was required in order to get a simple letter from point A to point B was deemed to be "worth it" because the real value lay in information and its flow.

Victorian England was powered by information. The true age of information started then, with them, not us. Information, exchanged in letters sent by coach up and down the country became the seeds from which sprung new scientific ideas and fresh insights. These allowed the building of engineering miracles, the refinement of the age of steam, the initiation of the age of numbers and visualisation that it was possible for one small island nation to take over the world and build it in its image, based upon the flow of information. An empire created by connectivity.

The wonder is that if the Victorians valued the impact of information on society so highly as to be willing to commit such huge resources in its flow how much greater an impact is the information flow of our age, now having?

The cost of time and effort, for example, that goes into the engagement on Google+ is "worth it" because it is offset by the impact the information we gain through the platform, has on us. ___A timely observation by one of G+'s premier thought leaders +David Amerland once again hits it out of the park! Great evening with +Shaker Cherukuri and family!

After over a year of G+ collaboration and friendship this long awaited "hirl" finally happened at Felippi's Pizza Grotto in Little Italy, San Diego last night. Great food and conversation where I learned that Shaker and his wonderful wife and beautiful 2 children are the poster family for the meaning of the American Dream. Dinner was followed by a brisk tour of San Diego Bay, Downtown Gaslamp Quarter nightlife, then over the bridge to Coronado Island and a walk-trough the legendary Hotel Del Coronado - all done before midnight! It was a great time! Thanks Shaker for taking the time from your busy travel schedule for the swing to San Diego to make it finally happen. Cheers!!!

Excellent service idea by a great guy who really knows his stuff in this arena. Let's help get Rob some assignments, he's not only deserving, he's a great resource inventive and productive.

Project Acceleration Services.  Hi everyone, I wanted to announce a new service I am offering, and to ask for your help.  I haven't made any secret of the fact that I am struggling in this economy, but I  believe I have something of value to offer so maybe you could help me get the word out.

I have become fascinated with the process of business acceleration - simply making things go faster.  This service combines my experience in program and project management with with modern team scheduling tools and brainstorming techniques to help people and businesses complete their projects more quickly.  With the invaluable help and support from the VBT and others here, I have produced this one page summary of this service which is attached to this post.

Please let me know if you or any of your associates might need a service like this.  I am totally open to collaboration if you want to work together on any projects we find, and will pay a finder's fee or simply "owe you one" if you are able to help. I need one or two people to take a chance on me with this - I know I can "deliver the goods" so your help would be gratefully appreciated. ___Excellent service idea by a great guy who really knows his stuff in this arena. At 3:50, he kind of breaks my brain. At 4:50, he lets you know how broke you really are. At 5:20, he rubs it in. And at 5:50, he points out that reality isn't close to what we think it is.

My eclectic source of people that help make me "smart". It is a diversity of views and resources that cover everything from G+ and it's adaptation, to science, to philosophy, to management 2.0 and organizational theory, with some dabs of religion, politics and sex thrown in (just to keep it interesting!), and much other etcetera.
Many, if not most of these people are wickedly smart, well read, social, intellectually curious, and in general might be the sort of tribe you could and would seed a new civilization with, what I would call my Deserted Island people.

"This video taps into the harsh reality that the (ruling class) are using the legal system to incarcerate as many people as possible (why do you think we have no jobs) this is by design the longer a person is out of work the greater the chances of criminal activity( they leave you no choice) the system is rigged and will remain this way as long as the private owners make huge profits from building prisons this is worst than slavery this is total manipulation of mankind."  http://goo.gl/zXsiD

Privatize, privatize, privatization of anything owned or controlled by the public or taxpayers is again being applied by Conservatives from coast to coast.  Sadly through the manipulations of ALEC and their thousands of legislative and corporate members, this agenda that began way back in the 80's is once again being used to usurp more public assets.  These assets include publicly built prisons, work-release centers, medical care facilities, schools and a myriad assortment of other buildings, programs and initiatives that now exists due to public funding. http://goo.gl/ociFr

"We treat many inmates more like cattle than people. The fact is that our system does not work. We are locking people up for profit, most of them will return to society, broken." http://goo.gl/otJdL___

“We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid.”  -- Benjamin Franklin. Ignorati - not to be confused with its Italian literal translation meaning of “ignored”, ignorati is closer to a pop culture antithetic play on on the word “illuminati”.

īgnōrātī -- “a person or group that is willfully ignorant, or woefully uninformed and forces their ignorant views on others regardless of fact, in spite of evidence.”

In general, the ignorati are described as individuals who, despite their education, power, wealth, or influence, remain anti-intellectual, uninformed and prone to making serious errors of fact when discussing science and other technical, political or social matters. They rather believe in fabled-doctrine than observable reality and resort to magical thinking and scapegoating with alarming ease. Thus, the ignorati can usually be found furiously adding fuel to moral panics and disinformation campaigns of intolerance, prejudice and bigotry in the name of god or country.  For a given individual or group to be considered part of the ignorati, he/she must engage in cognitive dissonance and regularly provide groupthink scripted opinions or report on matters they do not understand and have clearly made no attempt to understand. They are usually fiscally self-serving, unaware of their own privilege, and remain void of empathy for social issues or the plight and misfortunes of others. They believe wanton exploitation of the planet (and everyone or anything on it) yields endless bounty only for themselves and that this predatory activity is a god given right. They refuse to acknowledge or take responsibility for causing anyone's problems in the world and when confronted it is their common tactic to reframe observable reality with obfuscation, non sequitur or false equivalents. If cornered by logic they'll label any open civil discourse as direct personal attacks. While the ignorati can be found deep within every race and religion on the planet, in America they comprise arguably 50% of the population. Politically they are mostly Republicans (in numbers), but plenty of Democrats and Independents qualify for the title as well. These individuals firmly believe that willful-ignorance is their inalienable right and education erodes their freedom to remain so.

Technology Fix: Brain-drain & the future of business in the USA
The global competitiveness environment has changed dramatically and the US keeps falling behind. Why? One reason  is that both Americans and foreign innovators can apply for patent rights under U.S. law and as a result foreign entities outpace U.S. patent submissions and awards. U.S. entities receiving patent awards fell to 49.1 percent—its lowest share in nearly 50 years. Hyperchange:  Minds Are Anticipations
h/t +Jeff Jockisch

"...Minds exist only in relation to other minds; they are instantiations of co-relations."

MIHAI NADIN ( http://goo.gl/ISnIr ) - "Back in 1988 My claim - (on the occasion of a lecture presented at Ohio State University where I served as the Eminent Scholar in Art and Design Technology, a chair endowed by the State of Ohio) was that anticipation lies at the foundation of the entire cognitive activity of the human being. Moreover, through anticipation, we humans gain insight into what keeps our world together as a coherent whole whose future states stand in correlation to the present state as minds grasp it. Minds exist only in relation to other minds; they are instantiations of co-relations."

Anticipatory Computing

...unlike other semantic efforts that analyze usage history, their approach is to look at the past 10 minutes and then anticipate what users might need in the next 10 seconds.

“We have a predictive model that changes second to second and surfaces relevant information without searching,” says Tuttle. He calls it “anticipatory” computing, and as far as I am concerned, “predictive” is the future direction of computing.

Social Era: Individualism vs Collectivism
Politically, many say we have to make a choice, now! Fact is, we don't really have to chose one side or the other at all. There are many other "isms" at play here in the 21st. Century and what we need to do is hybridize solutions that speak and tend to our future rather than our past. The future belongs to NEW SOCIAL ERA IDEALS, not the same old demagoguery and dogmas repackaged.

“We can predict broad outlines, but we don’t know the ramifications,” the video says. “Information travels everywhere; anyone can access everything — the collective intelligence of humanity drives innovation in every direction while enabling new threats from super-empowered individuals with new domains, interconnecting faster than ever before. Unlimited combinations create unforeseen consequences.”

Hyperchange: The Law of Accelerating Returns
OK, so you'll need a little time to mull this over... Could be worth $40 trillion  to you...
- An analysis of the history of technology shows that technological change is exponential, contrary to the common-sense “intuitive linear” view. So we won’t experience 100 years of progress in the 21st century — it will be more like 20,000 years of progress (at today’s rate). The “returns,” such as chip speed and cost-effectiveness, also increase exponentially. There’s even exponential growth in the rate of exponential growth. Within a few decades, machine intelligence will surpass human intelligence, leading to The Singularity — technological change so rapid and profound it represents a rupture in the fabric of human history. The implications include the merger of biological and nonbiological intelligence, immortalsoftware-based human... more »

This essay, written in 2001, is the primary basis of the singularity movement.  A lot of people disagree with some of its premises... mostly about the timeline, and there's some talk about Kurzweil cherry picking his examples and ignoring counter examples.

I'm still on the fence, honestly.

but any essay with this quote, needs to be grokked.

"You will get $40 trillion just by reading this essay and understanding what it says. For complete details, see below. (It’s true that authors will do just about anything to keep your attention, but I’m serious about this statement. Until I return to a further explanation, however, do read the first sentence of this paragraph carefully.)"___Hyperchange: The Law of Accelerating Returns
