The Golden Coast
The Giant's Causeway, County Antrim

A re-edit of my image the golden coast.
This was the sight I was greeted with as I started to run down to the hexagonal columns of the Giant's Causeway and I had to stop and take shot, it was definitely one of the most awesome sunsets I have ever seen.

~Farmers Walk~
Kerry, Ireland

I arrived at this spot over looking Puffin Island, and the Skelligs in the background, around midday, to scout the area for a night shot (which unfortunately didn't pan). I was there about ten minutes when these two farmers can walking down the lane with their sheep.
When I saw them turn to walk down this little path I couldn't believe my luck, it made this photo come alive. Although the photo is not technically perfect, the focus was a little soft (I got to excited lol), I felt the overall image more than made up for that. You can plan a shot for hours but sometimes its about being in the right place at the right time

I'm honoured and humbled that one of my images was selected to be printed in the upcoming Plus One Collection III book beside many awesome photographers.
Funds raised from this project will go to the Saving Eliza campaign. Eliza O'Neill is a happy 4-year-old who, because of a degenerative genetic disease called Sanfilippo syndrome, may not live into her teens. If she doesn’t get the treatment she needs, she will lose the ability to speak within 6 months and suffer irreversible brain damage within a year and a half.
More information and contributions towards the project can be made here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/plus-one-collection-iii

~Dawn over Beginish Island and Valentia Harbour~
Valentia Island, Ireland

Beginish is an island in Valentia Harbour, in south west Kerry, Ireland. Beginish Island is currently uninhabited, the last remaining residents being 2 elderly brothers who left the island in the 1990s.

The island has numerous archaeological sites, including a Viking settlement occupied between the 10th and 12th centuries,[3] which consists of a circular stone dwelling, outhouse and a midden. Also occupying the highest point on the western end of the island is a block hut known as "Pilots lookout", which was used in the 19th and early 20th century to spot ships coming into Dingle bay which may have required pilotage into Valentia harbour

Decided to try get a different composition of Torc Waterfall then the standard shot and this is the result. Happy with the way it turned out.

I used +Michael Breitung's Dreamy photo technique on this photo and very happy with the result. You can purchase it from here: http://www.mibreit-photo.com/tutorials/dreamy-photos.html

~Kerry Cliffs~
Kerry, Ireland

A windy day up on the Kerry Cliffs. Beyond the cliffs on the left you can see Puffin Island and the two islands in the distance are the Skelligs, which were created of the same 350–million-year-old Devonian Sandstone that runs right through the backbone of Kerry - from the county’s south-western headlands to the shores of Killarney's lakes.

Hope you enjoy :)

On my third day in Kerry I camped just down the hill from the Kerry Cliffs. You can camp up closer to the cliffs, literally ten steps from the edge (there is fencing up though), but the close to the cliff edge meant there was a constant fierce wind blowing and would make it hard(er) to sleep.
This was the view from the tent site, looking over to Portmagee and Valentia Island. Not a bad place to rest the head for the night. I'll try get an image I took from the Kerry Cliffs up later.

~Ladies View~
Kerry, Ireland

My first sunrise down in Kerry was spent at Ladies View, located in Killarney National Park, name during the 1861 visit of Queen Victoria to Ireland, when it was named upon the exclamations of her awestruck entourage of ladies. The monarch was a guest at nearby Muckross House.

Worth getting up at 5am for I think. Hope you all enjoy :) http://www.alanowensphotography.com/ladies-view

Hello all! Just back from a great trip photographing and camping around Kerry, in south-west Ireland. A lot of images to process but first I need sleep.
Here is a quick shot of me under Torc Waterfall in Killarney National Park. I never thought this waterfall was that big looking at pictures of it but once I saw it I knew I had been mistaken, so I took this shot to give some scale to the waterfall.
Proper shots to come over the next few days :)

Thesis is finished. In celebration of this and the fact I haven't been out shooting anything new in ages, I'm off to Kerry next week for 5 days, hoping photograph a handful of the many awesome locations down in the south of Ireland. Fingers crossed for some nice conditions and I hope everyone has a great week :)

Awesome capture by +Koveh Tavakkol!

D A W N

I spent a few days camping and Jeeping through Colorado with a few friends. We spent this evening up at Clear Lake in the San Juan Mountains. The wildflowers around the lake itself were lagging behind this year, so I did some exploring in the valley below the lake. Fortunately there was some decent patches of flowers throughout the area, but we ended the evening with pretty clear skies.

Fearing the same for sunrise, I decided to get up early at around 3AM and head back down to the wildflowers I had scouted the night before. It was a bit windy, but I managed to get some breaks shortly before dawn, capturing this shot of a beautiful patch of Colorado Columbine.___Awesome capture by +Koveh Tavakkol!

~Oceanfall~
Dunseverick coast, County Antrim

The sun broke from behind rain clouds casting a glow across the sky during the evening along the Dunseverick coast and this waterfall enters the sea.

This was quite a tricky image to capture requiring several exposures blended. One for the clouds, another from the sun, another for the water and rocks and a final one was required from the rock in shadow. It was to easy to think of all these things since I was thinking about nearly losing my new lee filter holder.
A few minutes prior I had dropped it in the river above the waterfall and thought it was lost. I tried to see if I could see it falling down the waterfall, then I decided to  see I it was in the water where it dropped (even though I doubted it was there since I had to move the camera out of the way first to try grab it). Murlough Bay
Antrim, Northern Ireland

Murlough is a lovely bay situated in a secluded part of the county Antrim Coast. It is reached by a steep, winding road and offers superb views of Fair Head, Rathlin island and on a clear day Scotland.

Murlough Bay is well known for its flora, fauna and geology - a curved limestone cliff protects one of the few remaining old 'natural' temperate woodlands in Ireland.

~Rainbows End~
Portbradden, County Antrim

We were on our way to Dunseverick as the rain was falling, suddenly we turned a corner and this awesome rainbow appeared. We quickly drove down this little road and up up at Portbradden, a beautiful spot located beside White-park Bay. I quickly hoped out and captured this shot before the rainbow disappeared. Wish I had time set up my tripod but you gotta adjust to the quickly changing conditions so I shot this one handheld. It came out not to bad.

Filters and holders galore!

Look what finally arrived!! So after getting The Big Stopper the day after I ordered it I had to wait nearly 6 months before I could afford to by the Lee holder, along with a 0.9 soft GND filter. I hope to get out in the next few days if the weather clears to get some shots, exciting. Talk about delayed gratification haha Have a gooden' everyone! :)

~Lighthouse In A Rock Pool~
St. Johns Point Lighthouse, County Down

I had scouted out this location when I arrived, looking for rock pools which would give me a nice reflection of the lighthouse. I had come here planning to shoot the lighthouse at the blue hour, which I did (see here: http://www.alanowensphotography.com/st-johns-point-lighthouse), however when the sun began to set and the sky started to light up I had to get a couple of shots in.

This is a blend of three exposures, one for the sky, one for the lighthouse and rocks and another shot taken with a polarizer to get a view into the rock pool.

Hope you enjoy

~A Moment Of Calm~
Derryclare Lough, County Galway

Took a spur of the moment trip up to Galway during the summer with the fam and before we went home I managed to convince them to take a trip up to this well known lake. As we got closer the weather got worse and worse, fortunately the rain eased a bit when I got there but the 12 Pins Mts behind were shrouded in mist. Not ideal conditions but I knew a nice long exposure shot would work well here and I'm quite pleased with the result, the long exposure calmed the water and made the island in the middle of the lake the focus point.
Ya gotta know how best to use the conditions to your advantage is something I'm continually learning.

Enjoy and share!

~In Pursuit Of Happiness~
Tollymore Forest, County Down

Well I'd say I find happiness in photography, the pursuit part is trying to actually get the time and go out and shoot, something I'm finding especially hard to do this year as I'm under taking a Msc in Climate Change, but then again absence makes the heart grow fonder I hear

~St. Johns Point Lighthouse~
County Down, Northern Ireland

Built 1884, under the direction of George Halpin. Originally 62ft. high, raised to 120ft. in 1893. Powered by whale oil, coal gas and from 1981, electricity; now automated.

Also sorry I haven't had time to look at other peoples pics of late, this masters course, what can I say!

Note: There was small light beams from the lighthouse but I took some artistic license and extended them in photoshop
